Back from Hawaii
Guys I'm back. I haven't had time to upload pictures so you'll have to wait for them. Hawaii is truly paradise. The temperature was perfect and the people were very friendly. It's definitely a place I'd go back too. I'm still having trouble adjusting to time difference. Came home sick today b/c I thought I was getting the flu. Thank God it was probably only a bug and I slept for four hours so it helped. Give you more info later.

Hawaii
Well, I'm leaving for Hawaii in three days. I'm really excited and nervous. This will be Bryan and I first trip together. We've done the wknd trip but never a week long trip. We're flying to Hawaii together but not back since we'll be on a separate airlines. The flight there is like eight hours. Yikes! Anyway, I'm looking forward to relaxing and spending time with my boo. We haven't been able to spend alot of time together the last couple of weeks and it would be nice to get away from the stress of everyday life. We are staying in Honolulu. Can't wait to lay out on the beach with a cocktail. That's my ideal vacation.

Refinishing Tub and Kitchen Sink
Today, I couldn't go see Obama speak at Tulane because I had to be at the office at 9:00am since no one was supposed to be there to open up the office. Well, of course I got there and people were there. I was sooo pissed. I ended up leaving early b/c I was having my tub and kitchen sink reglazed. Since my house is older I have the real heavy duty iron tub and kitchen. I decided to go ahead and spend the money and redo them b/c if I sell the house the bathroom and kitchen are the two things that people look at for in a new house. Can't use the sink or tub for 48 hours so I'll be hitting the gym tomorrow morning to take a bath. Probably same thing on Saturday morning.
Mardi Gras Update
Well I ended up going to see Hermes and Crew D'Etat on Friday. Since I rode with my neighbor Alice-Anne I couldn't wait to see Muses which was rolling after another parade. Supposedly it didn't end til almost 1:00am. The D'Etat parade is probably in my top five parades. They always skewer local and national politicians via their float designs. Very funny stuff.
Saturday I ended up going to an Endymion party in Mid-City at my friend Brenda's house. Endymion is a super parade and has over 2500 riders. You can't even fathom what that means til you sit through one of their parades. They haven't done the Mid-City parade route since Katrina so people were out in full force. I didn't stay to watch the parade because it's total chaos so I went to meet up with Isabel to pick up my new craft desk from Pier 1. It's not real wood but it's only $300.00 and you can't beat that. Now I have a place to lay out my jewelry making stuff. I ended up going to see Bingo(the lead singer sung the national anthem at the BCS Championship Bowl) on Saturday at One Eyed Jacks in the quarter. The funny thing is we left about 1:30amish and we were still kind of sober. We drove through the quarter and watched in amazement at how drunk people were. There was people walking around barefoot, lying on the ground, throwing up or pretty much all kinds of nasty stuff.
On Sunday, I headed out to Bacchus and met up with Isabel and her family. We stayed almost to the end. That's a great super parade too. Hulk Hogan was the king and he was huge. Check him out. Ok, I didn't get a good one of him on his float but the float of him is pretty cool. Early evening on this on
On Monday, I took the day off and decided to run errands I'd been wanting to run them for awhile and lo and behold most places were closed. Didn't make me happy. Anyway, I ended up going to the warehouse district to catch Orpheus, my favorite super parade. It was awesome and I ended up catching Jon Cleary afterwards. BTW, did I tell you that someone offered me two free tickets to the Orpheus Ball. I passed on them since Bryan couldn't make it and I couldn't think of anyone who'd want to go. Anyway talked to some guys in the elevator in the parking garage who were coming back from the ball. They said it sucked so I don't feel too bad. Couple of pics from Orpheus. Look really closely at the float picture because there is a bunch of people on it so you can get an idea of how big it is. I like the guy in the gladiator chariot. You don't see the woman leading him b/c these guys aren't professionals. I LOVE ORPHEUS!
Mardi Gras was pretty lame since I didn't want to get out of bed b/c I was slightly hungover. Ended up meeting Bryan and his parents and kids out in Metairie. Let me just say that it'll be the last time. It's not New Orleans Mardi Gras that's all I'll say.
New Stationary
Just to let you guys know. I decided to be an adult and get personalized stationary from Crane & Co. Check them out. http://www.crane.com I went with a pink and chocolate thank you cards. What do you think? Pretty nice. My friend Mark R helped me choose the style and color from the local stationary place Scriptura. They have those cute To Do list pads. The inside of the envelopes are chocolate as is the font. Fancy, huh?

Friday Update
Well I guess I should fill you in on what's going on in my life. This past week was crazy. Parades started on Wednesday but I didn't end up making it since I went to dinner with Noel at Rock n Sake. It's his hangout and I owed him his bday dinner so we went to have sushi. It was fun. Anyway Thursday parades were cancelled due to the bad weather that was supposed to come through last night. Of course, the rain and wind came through but were done by the time the parades were supposed to start. My friend Mel invited me to the Mayor's Ball. I'd been to one years ago when my friend Arnold was Deputy Mayor but I hadn't been to one in a very long time. Anyway, Bryan, Miguel and his mom, who were back from their cruise, decided to go. I was dressed in a short cocktail dress and Bryan and Miguel were dressed up but didn't have a tie on. Mel called me right before we got to the ball to tell me that they wouldn't let him in without a tie. We ended up buying these cheesy touristy ties from some store on Canal Street. Some people were in cocktail dresses and tuxes. Very fancy. It was at Gallier Hall which I think used to be the old City Hall back in the 1800s. It's really nice inside. The booze and food was free. They had a brass band and a dj in different rooms. We ended up dancing to the Brass band alot. Bryan and I ended up taking a picture just like the prom. Only problem was it was in front of a blue screen and my dress was blue. I forgot the picture but I'll scan and add it later. Had a really good time dancing and socializing. Ran into a couple of people I hadn't seen in a long time. Before I forget. We were leaving the parking lot after the ball and we see this guy laying on the street. We stopped to see what was wrong and lo and behold he'd just gotten hit by a car. The guy and his friend decided to walk on the street and a car hit him and left the scene. He seemed ok and we stayed with them til the EMTs and police got there. The sad part about it was when the EMTs said they had to call around to the hospitals to see who would take them. Two years after Katrina our medical facilites are in total disarray. Think about that next time to start to get Katrina fatigue. We went to go see Rebirth Brass Band at the Howling Wolf for free after the Ball.
I'm debating on whether I should go to Austin for the wknd since I'm taking off Monday. I'll probably end up leaving Saturday afternoon. Have to go pick up my craft desk from Pier 1 tomorrow morning. I'm going to try to see parades tonight. I want to at least catch a couple of them if I do decide to leave town.
