SAKS purchases

So even though I was tired as hell and sore from the Wii when I landed at 10:00am on Wednesday I headed over to SAKS directly from the airport. I'd texted Isabel and joked if she wanted to meet me at SAKS and she responded that she was already there. I couldn't let her down so I headed over. First place I went was the shoe section. I already knew my Guiseppe Zanottis weren't on sale so I was just looking. All sale items were further reduced by 50% til noon. It was crazy as people were trying to get their sale on. I also picked up some Theory pieces and a Diane Von Furstenberg dress at ridiculous prices. I didn't get the Zanotti stilettos I wanted but I did get a more reasonable pair of them. I need more heels with kitten heels. They are soo cute and I got them at a great deal. I also got two pairs of Moschino shoes. They are to die for.

Christmas Recap

So, I went home for the Holidays on the 21st. I ended up running lost of errands up to the evening of the 20th. I went to a holiday dinner with Beth and Michael at this new Japanese restaurant on Magazine street and exchanged gifts. It was pretty good and we ended up walking up Magazine Street to have some gelato. Beth had this amazing chocholate with chili pepper gelato that was pretty out of this world. Going back to try it later.
The trip to the Valle(it's called the Rio Grande Valley) where my parents was eventful. My luggage didn't get in with me b/c my flight out of New Orleans was late so I was late getting on my flight to Harlingen. Note to self, fly in/out of McAllen. I somehow didn't reserve the car I thought I'd reserved so my brother lent me one of his cars. Thanks Hector and Sandra. I ended up buying a Wii. More of that later. My nephews baptisms went smooth on the 22nd. Can't post any of their pics b/c of the perverts out in the world. Christmas Eve was great b/c my cousins on my mom's side were down from Chicago. It's the Roman family and we grew up with them when we lived up North. It was one of the best Christmas ever. We even had a piñata. I'll post pics later after I get them from other people. I forgot my camera's charger and it pretty much died on me. Anyway there was lots of drinking. I'd bought two bottles of the Absolut New Orleans Vodka and shipped it to my parents house. We drank some of it the night of the baptism party and the rest on Christmas Eve. My sister Crissy and I did most of the cooking for our Christmas Eve dinner. The turkey was a group effort this year and it was delicious! I gave a great dance performance wearing my Santa hat and stockings(the red ones meant for the fireplace). Really funny stuff. After we opened presents on Christmas Eve we opened up the Wii and I played the boxing game a little too enthusiastically. Let's just say that I woke up on the 26th feeling as if someone beat me up. Anyway I had to wake up at 4:30am on Wednesday to catch a 6:30am flight out on the 26th. I went directly to SAKS and met up with my friend Isabel after I landed to try to take advantage of the 50% off before noon sale. Got some good deals and I'll post pics later.

To SPANX or Not

So my mom has always been a big fan of wearing girdles. I guess I'd be a fan too if I popped out seven kids. Anyway I've been seeing them more and more at stores specifically at upscale stores. So my question is. Should I get a pair? I hate when I wear tights and I get a muffin top because they fit me lengthwise but aren't my true size but I hate wearing a size up b/c I have to pull them all the way up to my bra. Spanx has a pair that goes up to your bra but it eliminates the muffin top. I'm tempted to buy them. No me gusta muffin tops.

Christmas Tree Part Two

Last night I spent my evening decorating my tree after making a pit stop at Target. My dogs were barking so I put on my homemade slippers (courtesy of Mami) and got to work. I think the tree might need more of the ribbon/garland but at this point I'm glad I finished it. I still had lots of the silver balls left over and now I'm thinking I should have left it all silver, white and clear with no color. What do you guys think? Too much or too little?

Updated Christmas List

So I've decided to update the list.

1. Brother's labeler-I'm on a mission to get organized.
2. A small wood armoire from Rowan Oaks in Metairie for my bathroom. I need a place to put towels and toiletries. Painted in high gloss decorator's white paint.
3. Nice black pencil skirt-Lined and lightweight wool. Quality stuff
4. Nice white shirt in Petite size. 100% Cotton.
5. Black Leather belt with gold buckle(like my current Coach one).
6. Chanel Sunglasses from my birthday list.
7. New Balance running shoes- Made in USA
8. Guiseppe Zanotti shoes from my birthday list. I might wait and see if they go on sale after XMAS.
9. New 8 gig Ipod Nano.
10. A puppy from the pound

Christmas Tree

It's been a couple of years since I've been in the Christmas spirit so this year I must have caught it. After the game last night(the Saints won), I bought a tree. Bryan helped me put it up. Now, I know why people buy synthetic trees. It was a pain to get it into the stand and it was messy with all the sap on it. Anyway here's the before picture of it. I didn't get very far b/c I didn't have ribbon to put in the tree. The lights are up courtesy of Bryan and I'll be decorating tonight. I'll be sure to post the after picture. My trees are always silver and white colored with a little bit of red, blue and greens but mostly I have silver, clear glass and clear plastic ornaments. I'm a stickler for it. I just remembered that I need a tree skirt too. Have to stop by Target or something tonight. It's scary out there people!!!

My Christmas Party

Well, Friday night was my office Christmas party. I spent the whole afternoon running around town picking up stuff to make gift baskets for our clients so we could deliver them today. I didn't get out of the office until after 4:00pm and I had to pick up last minute gifts for the party. The party was supposed to start at 7:30pm but Cliff moved it to 7:00pm on Friday. Of course I was running late and was totally freaking out b/c I really wanted to be on time. Oh well, we ended up going back to the Bourbon House on Bourbon Street this year after last year's fiasco at Pascal Manales(they put us in a room where we couldn't move b/c we were so crowded). We ate at the Bourbon House two Christmas' ago after Katrina and most places were closed. It's pretty good. Of course, I was so frazzled that I picked the most unattractive outfit I could find but the shoes are killer. Check em out. I wanted to wear the shoes but didn't plan on what I would wear them with. They are this brand called Laurence Dacade that I'm in love with. I've got another pair that are kind that are black patent Mary Jane type shoe.

Christmas Parties

Well, Bryan invited me to an office Christmas party last Thursday. Actually, it was at the very important business acquaintance's house. I asked him what the attire was and he said casual. When he said casual an alarm went off in my head b/c I know holiday parties are usually fun and festive. Well sure enough it was a fancy affair or at least holiday attire. You guys know me and of course I was looking cute even if I was slightly under dressed. I was wearing my new 3.1 Phillip Lim grey wool pants and black sweater. Bryan was wearing jeans and a sweater that needed some pressing. I let him know that he needs to buy himself a sports jacket for these type of occasions. Anyway the Colonel who had the party is married to an Italian woman and she catered the event and it was sooo good. She had marinated artichoke hearts, caviar, ravioli and other Italian delicacies. It was plates and fine linen fancy. Overall it was a nice experience.

Wednesday

Well it's hump day. Nothing really going on today. I'll be leaving in a bit to go call on a client and hopefully close some business before the end of the year. I've done all my numbers for this year which is good b/c I can slack off. Other than that nothing really going on except I'm looking at houses to see if I should move out of my current house into something nicer aka better neighborhood.

Christmas Cards

So I was at Target yesterday doing a little Christmas shopping and picking up some personal items I needed. Anyway I was going to buy Christmas cards where you put your picture on the front. Mark says that it's not appropriate for me to do it b/c they are meant for people with families. I'm kind of miffed that I can't put my picture on it. He says it's vain. Can someone tell me if they think that's true b/c I might do it for Easter or next Christmas?

Christmas Picture

So I went out to help with the video shoot Sunday evening and it was lots of fun. Rome, our camera guy, was lots of fun to work with. We met this one Mexican American family from El Paso. They were so cute b/c it was a mom and dad and all their kids who were between 25-15. Looks like my peeps are coming to live here for good. Julio, the host, was starving so he invited us to Taqueria Corona after the shoot. I didn't eat too much b/c I was having dinner with Beth. She had a bad weekend and needed some comfort food. She made Shepherd's pie which was outstanding. Anyway, while at the mall I took a picture in front of the Christmas tree. The shirt I'm wearing was given to me by Beth because she didn't like the way it fit. The funny thing is it kept popping open the whole night and I probably gave someone a shot of my goods. By the time I got to her house all the buttons had come loose. I literally walked into her house clutching my shirt together. Now I know why she gave me the shirt. Just joking. She never wore it she just didn't like the way it fit. I'm changing out the buttons to bigger ones b/c I think that's the problem. Hope you like my picture. I wanted to take one with Santa but I didn't get a chance and not having a kid to take him to see Santa wouldn't have been good.

Sunday Evening

Ok, I'm about to roll out to go do a shoot for De Todo Un Poco. I'm not in the video shoot I'm just helping produce it. We are going to be shooting people(Latinos) shopping at Lakeside Mall and getting them to send their saludos to their family and friends via television. If you don't know, I have been helping produce a local Spanish show that airs live every Tuesday night for the last couple of years. Basically I sit in the television control room and tell the host what's up next and how much time he has for each segments. I'll post some pics 2morrow about the video shoot. It's nothing fancy just a local tv show. It's a lot of fun and I wish I could do it fulltime except for one night a week b/c I could really make it awesome. Just got some cupcakes out of the oven. I'm making Xmas cupcakes for the television crew for next Tuesday's show b/c we'll be taping two shows that night and I'd like to show some appreciation. And I want to show off my buttercream frosting. It's yummy!

New Orleans Hornets

Ok, normally my Wednesday nights are pretty lame or at least not very exciting. The last two weeks have been pretty fun so I'll share. A client of mine invited me and a guest to their company's suite at the New Orleans Arena last night. The Hornets were playing the Pistons. They lost. Anyway, part of fun of getting invited was being able to sit courtside. I'm telling you I could have reached out and touched them. We only got to sit down there for the 3rd qtr but it was fun. The tickets to sit courtside are 700.00 a piece. Can you believe that? He said it's mainly corporate sponsers who buy those tickets. Of course we were surrounded by snooty people. Anyway, they had a full setup of food and like any good party they had nachos. Here's a couple of pics. I invited Bryan. Doesn't my face look flawless. BTW, I cut my own bangs. Didn't have time to run down to Randy's for a touchup. I'm wearing a J.Crew top and it's cut really well. Now I know why people shop there. The color is beautiful too. The earrings are my own creation or at least I put the beads on the premade earring.

Alterations

So I've been going to this Vietnamese lady to do my alterations for years now. She's pretty good most of the time and she isn't outrageously expensive. Well I took two brand new pairs of AG Jeans to her even after my friend Michael said not to go to her anymore b/c she doesn't pay attention. Well, I should have listened to a gay man in retail. I tried on my new pair of dark blue velvet/cordouroy pants and they are too short with my heels. I tried them on for her with my tallest heels to make sure they were long. I don't know if it's a language thing or not. That's why I said she was Vietnamese people. So I just bought two new pairs of AG Jeans at the outlet store and I'm taking it to Michael's person. I only paid 44.00 plus tax for each pair. I'm never buying AG jeans at regular retail pricing again. These jeans are made for people with butts. Check out the blue corduroy AG jeans. http://www.designsbystephene.com/pd_ag_jeans_angel_baby_corduroy_in_calvary.cfm

Family Portrait

Ok, when I was like ten the Roman family(my mom's side of the family) decided to take a family portrait. All of my mom's siblings, their kids and her parents. Well, it was well intentioned but of course you've got that one family member who wanted his daughter to be the center of attention and totally caused some animosity towards them. I still hold a grunge about that picture. Anyway I want to continue the tradition and set up a Hernandez family portrait for the day of lil Felix's baptism since we'll all be gussied up. Wish I could post the family picture but I can't take a picture of it since my mom has it. I'm going to look into hiring a real photographer. Should be interesting.

XMAS List

I'm suppposed to be working on my Christmas list but I think it's going to be lots of stuff from my bday list. Keep you posted. XOXO

SAINTS LOSE

Went to the game on Sunday and of course they lost. So mad b/c they had the game in hand. Well got to wear my new Reebok Saints jacket with rhinestones. It's really cute but it was sooo cold in there I had to use another sweater over it. My seats are sooo high up that the vent is like 10 feet above our head. Thinking I'm going to try to get two better tickets than the four ok seats I have. Next game is Dec. 16th and the following is Dec. 23rd. Got invited to the Hornets vs. Pistons game in a suite on Wednesday by a client. Should be fun.

Military Ball

So Bryan asked me to his Dining In which is like a Military Ball. Being that I didn't really have that great of a time at my prom I really wanted to go b/c it was formal and what girl doesn't like to dress up in a big fancy dress. I had my choice of two dresses a green halter and a dark blue rouched one. I went with the blue one b/c I didn't have time to alter the green one. I didn't get to wear a tiara but I had fun none the less. My hair didn't behave as planned. I tried a new curl product that kind of made it too greasy. Oh well, should I have stuck to what I know. Also used foundation which probably was a bad idea since I never do. Made my face way too shiny in pictures even though I used my Smashbox primer. What I did try was this NARS Body Glow. It smells awesome and made my skin so soft. Didn't really like any of the pics of Bryan & I. So I'm posting some of them anyway to get your opinion. I'm looking kind of thick in some of the pics mabye it was a bad choice but it looked good on me.

Cleaning out closet

After last nights wardrobe dilemma I've decided I'm going to clean out my closet this coming week. I'm going to give away or sell anything that I haven't worn in a year(have to start somewhere). If you want something I've got let me know b/c I'm going to consolidate to fit all my clothes, shoes, and bags in my one closet. When I remodeled in 2006 I had my back den, which was an newer addition to my house, cut up into two rooms. One side is now my laundry room and the other is my dressing room. It's right off my bedroom so I can get ready there. I have plenty of space for clothes in this room but I still have clothes/jackets in two other closets. Here's a pic of one side of my closet that I had done when I remodeled. It's got a whole lot more crap on it now since I moved purses to this side and added quite a few shoes. The other side of my dressing room has a closet for clothes and it's jam packed. I know ladies my custom made shelves are every girl's dream. :-)

Happy YaYa

So last night I walked in a charity event for YaYa. Check out their website http://www.yayainc.com/. My friend Michael, who designed one of the shirts I modeled asked me to walk and I said sure. Of course I didn't know what I was walking into. It was pretty cool eventhough I was nervous and needed a couple of drinks to do the walk. I got to meet Michael's man Keith who is really cute. There was lots of pretentious asses there but it was cool. I ended up wearing my Loeffler Randall booties with a pencil skirt and my black beret. Let me tell you guys something. Charity events always bring out the big bucks and you could clearly tell who had money especially old family money. Anyway I ended up walking the runway with some Hollywood actor named Bryan(big queen), some local singer and Sean Yseult, former bassist with White Zombie. Sean was by far the coolest of all the other celebreties who walked. Wish I had a better outfit on but I panicked and picked the wrong thing. Still looked cute enough to get some VP from Shell to check me out. Could be b/c most of the women and some men were Botoxed the hell up. Having no facial expressions isn't cute. Anyway it was fun but wish I had more of my friends there for moral support. Here's a pic of my boots that I bought at Michael's store Shoefty. Took my camera but didn't get any pics.

Outlet Mall

So Crissy and I hit up the Outlet Mall in San Marcos. I was totally floored by how many upscale shops they have there. Jimmy Choo, Armani, Max Azaria(they also have the lower line BCBG) and a bunch others. I ended up getting these bowls from Williams & Sonoma outlet that I've had wanted for awhile. My friend Mark just told me that they'd pulled them from the stores because they started making them in China and people got pissed off. So I'm kind of mad that I wasn't up on that when I bought them. Oh well. I also bought some Capholon pots and pans b/c I cook all the time. ;-). Ok, I plan on cooking more often. Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel had amazing stuff. I'm going to head back after the Holidays to finish decorating my house. If you're interested in making that road trip let me know. I even bought two pairs of AG Jeans that normally cost between 125.00-150.00 for less than 49.00 bucks each. There the Angel style which fits me like a charm since it hugs my butt. Here's the link to the mall if you want to see if they have your store. http://www.tangeroutlet.com/sanmarcos

Back from Texas

So I went to Texas for the Thanksgiving holiday. Ended up getting to Houston close to 9:00pm on Wednesday b/c my tire had a nail in it and I-10 was closed. Spent Thanksgiving day at my brother's Juan's friend house. They were no nice. He and his girlfriend were totally cool and welcomed me into their house. We spent the whole day there. We even played pictionary and dominos and I totally was great at both. I even won a round by having my two team members figure out "Britney Spears". That one was a really hard one til I figured who can't forget her shaving her head. Anyway left to Austin early Friday morning to go to Crissy and my massage appointment. Austin was rainy and cold the whole time I was there. We did manage to get some shopping done on Saturday and Sunday before I left. Lil Roman was a trooper on Saturday but he stayed home with his dad on Sunday. Miss him already.

Tuesday before Thanksgiving

Well I'm sitting at my desk trying to pretend I'm busy but in all reality I have nothing to do since it's dead. Most of my clients took the week off. I should have taken the week off too. I don't know why I'm even pretending since it doesn't even matter that I'm here. Anyway, I'm going to go pick up some gumbo for whomever offers me a place for Thanksgiving. I was supposed to go to my brother's house but he's having dinner at a friends so I might end up driving to Austin tomorrow and meeting Crissy and her family. She's going to Dallas though. The dilemma of it all. Anyway, I'll come up with something soon. Have to get that oil change before I leave since I didn't get that done. I'll post stuff later from Austin.

Friday Afternoon

Well, I'm sitting here at my desk trying to finish work but I'm unmovitated and a tad bit hungover. I went to my friend's Beth house for dinner to meet her new beau. He's really nice and she's so happy. Of course the food was delicious. Michael, Beth's BFF, and I ended up going to Robert's for a drink. If you don't know about Robert's it's my new fav bar. You can get a Grey Goose tonic, Absolute with Grapefruit and a Newcastle for $11.00. That's pretty cheap considering the drinks are freakin strong and it's close to my house. It's not a fancy place or a total hole in the way. It's just an average New Orleans neighborhood bar. You can get totally loaded for about 20.00. Anyway, Robin met up with me later in the evening after she got off work. Looks like she might not be leaving quite yet. We shall see.

My wknd seems to be filling up with things to do. I'll be judging a beauty pageant for the local Nicaraguan club. Shouldn't be too difficult since it's only two girls. Went to the mall to return a SAINTs jersey I bought Bryan and I couldn't get my money back b/c it been more than 45 days so I picked up a cute SAINTS jacket. I'll post a pic of me wearing it later. Other than that nothing really going on right now. Can't wait to get home after my workout session to eat my leftovers and veg b/c Saturdays filling up.

TO DO LIST(saturday)
1. Take car in for oil change to Nissan to get ready for roadtrip to Austin.
2. Pick up alterations
3. Pick up shoes and get others fixed
4. Make copy of keys to leave with someone just in case I die and my cats start to eat me.

Favorite Websites

Every morning I have a daily ritual. I come in and start my pc which takes forever. I'm supposed to get a new one but I haven't bitched enough to get it. *Note to self, bitch about PC again* Than I cruise to the internex(I know it's internet but I like to say it that way). So I've made a quick list of my favorite websites. Some of them are gossip sites. Check it out.
1. http://jezebel.com/ One of my favorites b/c it has a little bit of everything.

2. http://www.nola.com/ This one is New Orleans local news. Don't read the blogs on them b/c people are nasty and vicious and racist of course.

3. http://www.wonkette.com/ I adore this site b/c it gives me all kinds of political gossip specifically when right wing Republicans get caught in sex scandels. Usually it's gay ones which makes for some good laughs.

4. http://www.gawker.com/ This site is a sister site to wonkette and jezebel so it kind of has the same stuff as the other two sites.

5. http://www.dlisted.com/ This one is gossip one and it's vicious. He's a gay guy and he likes to be super catty to all the celebrities and sometimes he knows about Latino stars like Charyten.

6. http://www.perezhilton.com/ I know I shouldn't like this one but it's a prett good gossip website.

7. http://www.sephora.com/ I love it b/c I can always find some cosmetic I didn't know I needed. :)

8. http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/ I love to look at their shoe section. The Louboutins are my favorites.

9. http://www.ebay.com/ I don't go on as much as I like but it's a classic.

10. http://babyedwards.com/ Checking out Roman's pics always brightens my day. He's such a cutie.

Happy Veteran's Day

In celebration of Veteran's Day, I thought I'd post a pic from yesterday's SAINTS game. They did an armed forces kind of thing. Here it is. Happy Veteran's Day to all the vets I know and don't know. I appreciate all your hard work! Have a great day! I took the picture from the other side of the Superdome and had to turn it around on my computer. That's why it looks weird.

Robin's Party

Well considering that it was so last minute I got a couple of Robin's friends over to the R Bar for a little get together. I made cupcakes with real Buttercream frosting. I tried to be all Martha Stewart and decorate them using one of those pastry bags and stuff and it didn't go to well so I broke out the ole knife and decorated. I took pictures too. Lots of ex-coworkers of Robin's showed up even Noe, our personal trainer, and Randy Roman, our hairdresser, showed up. Mel, an old friend of mine, who used to work with Robin years and years ago showed up. It was nice to catch up with him since I hadn't seen him since before Katrina. She didn't invite her current co-workers b/c she said they'd be sad. Anyway, we had lots of fun. Didn't take pics of everyone that was there, sorry. I might have had too much fun but we sobered up at a new restaurant/bar that opened on Frenchmen. I think it's called 13. Thanks to George or whomever paid for me. :) Glad I didn't get to lit b/c I had a Saints game the next morning and I had to meet the people I went with at 10:30am.

Friday Lunch

So Cliff, my boss, and I headed over to Ralph's on the Park for lunch. It was my belated bday lunch and we were researching whether we could have our Christmas office party. It's owned by one of the Brennan family members. If you don't know who the Brennans are than you probably aren't a foodie and you don't live in New Orleans. Anyway, they are like the royal family of eating in New Orleans. Brennan's, Commander's Palace(Emeril got his start there), Mr. B's and many others. All of their resturants are pretty phenomenal. Check out the menu. http://www.ralphsonthepark.com/menu_display.php?id=14 I had the gulf fish and it was drum. Delicious!!!! We also split the egg roll appetizer which were yummy. Of course being a buisness lunch I had two glasses of the Estancia Pinot Grigio. Cliff had the beef tenderloin and it was good too. We were going to have our party there but they are booked solid. Too bad it would have been nice b/c it's very swank and it's across from City Park which will have Xmas lights up. So I'm looking to book our party at another Brennan restaurant. Check it out. I'll let you know if we have any success. http://www.bourbonhouse.com/about/owners.htm

Robin's leaving

I'm so bummed. Robin who's become my best friend in New Orleans is leaving. She's going to school for a year in Los Angeles. I'm happy for her but I will really really miss her. She's the third best friend I've lost to other cities. My friend Jill moved back to Montana and Nicky moved to NYC. I see Nicky pretty often but I haven't seen Jill in years. I might go visit her and get some skiing done. :) Anyway, I'm trying to put together a get together for her this Saturday at the R Bar. She leaves on the 17th and works everyday except Saturday. If you are reading this Robin I love you and will really miss you. I'll be visiting you often. You know me I love to travel!

It's over!

So last night was Bryan's bday so I drove in to Baton Rouge to have dinner with his parents and us. I didn't feel 100% so I wasn't up to being my friendly self. Sorry about that Bryan's parents. They don't read the blog but putting it out there makes me feel better. He ended up inviting a friend and his girlfriend. It would have been nice to have dinner with just his parents since we've only been around them when they are tailgating and that means drinking heavily. We've been dating on and off for almost two years and this was the first time we'd been to dinner with his parents. I think that is a sign of where our relationship is and would be going.

Well, this morning I broke up with Bryan. I know all of you think it's for the better. I guess you've seen me happy and sad but mostly sad. I know my decision is the right one because it just hasn't been very good the last couple of months but it still hurts like hell. We broke up in August for a while and I took him back b/c he said we'd go to therapy. Never happened. I guess it wasn't meant to be b/c if someone loves you enough they move the moon for you. They treat you like a queen. They make every effort to make you happy. Am I right? I fell in love with a guy that wrote me love letters, sent me cute texts, wrote me love emails and called to talk to me constantly. I don't get that anymore. I know that he might really love me but he doesn't know how to appreciate the best damn thing that ever happened to him. I was his biggest cheerleader no matter what was going on in his life. How could someone not be happy with me? I'm beautiful, smart, sexy, funny, warm, nice and successful. I know I sound full of myself but I need the peptalk right now. I've seen the dating pool in New Orleans and it isn't pretty.
I'm going to focus on myself for the next couple of months so if anyone of you want to take a trip let me know so we can plan one. I could really use a Carribean getaway right now.

SAINTS WIN

Here's me and Bryan doing what we do best. Drinking. Actually we were celebrating the Saints win and our bday wknd. Had lots of fun at the game and afterwards. Wore a gold INC shirt that I bought for one of my sisters who never wore it. Never thought I'd wear it either but it's Saints colors ya know. We were supposed to go eat at Jacquemos after the game but they were closed. The fish came from a drink that I got at Lucy's. Were at Vic's Kangaroo Bar in the picture. We look really happy together but I guess you can never tell what's going on inside someone's head. That's for a later post.

Pic of the day

Hey everyone I haven't bored you with my pics of my trip to Argentina so I'll be posting random pics of me on the trip. I took over 500 pictures b/c I bought a 2Gig card. Yes, I know I shouldn't have taken that many.
Here's me in Uruguay. We took a ferry(fast one) from Buenos Aires over to Colonia de Sacramento(an UNESCO world site). Of course it rained and I didn't bring an umbrella so I got wet. Thank God I was wearing that Missoni shirt. Just thought I'd mention it in case you were thinkign about buying one. It's stylish and totally functional. Got mine at SAKS at a killer price. 40% off already reduced price. Who says I'm not a great shopper. It's made of wool and kept me relatively warm and dry.
The tourist area was small enough for us to walk. It's a little touristy(Americanized) and they use a different exchange than Argentina which didn't make for good deals. Anyway I picked up a handmade wool sweaterjacket for next to nothing from a shop on the square. The woman sits in her store and knits all kinds of things all day to sell. They produce alot of wool so wool is super cheap there. It's one of my best purchases on that trip. The people of Uruguay were much friendlier than people from Buenos Aires I felt. Anyway hope you enjoy my random pic post.

Bday wknd

Since Bryan was out of town for my birthday we are celebrating his and mine this wknd. No big plans other than relaxing. We do have the Saints game on Sunday though. :)

BTW, didn't see those shoes. Guess I'm going to have to buy them. :)

Thanks to everyone that called, emailed or met up with me for my bday. THANK YOU! It was a great birthday and can't wait to celebrate with you guys. Besos y Abrazos! Even my mom called me on my bday. As some of you know, she told me for years my bday was on the 31st. It was easier for her to remember since she's got seven kids ya know.

Happy Halloween!

So this year Beth and I went down to Frenchmen(Mark dropped us off but left since he couldn't find a parking place) and it was packed. Can't believe how many people were down there. Saw lots and lots of cool costumes and took a picture of a couple of them. Ran into my hairdresser who went as Jody Watley(80's singer) and I was looking at him for like 5 minutes before he recognized me. He's like a size 2 so the outfit was awesome. Bitch is working it. My favorite was Tippi Heardon from the movie, The Birds. I also liked the Kool-Aid guy. Hope you guys enjoy the pics. I went as a guerrilla/rebel leader. I had to carry around my friend Robin's horse til she got off work and met up with us so it was hard to work it but I managed. She was a cowgirl and Beth was a dead Anna Nicole. I was a bit loaded by the time Robin and Beth took pics. We ended up going to Molly's b/c it was the only place that wasn't unbelievably packed. Hope you guys like.

New haircut

So Thursday evening I got a cut from my guy Randy Roman(yes, that's his last name and he's from Texas too). He styled it stick straight and I rocked the look for a couple of days. Don't you just love it when you get a blowout and your hair looks sooo good and you can never make it look like that at home. Here's me working my trademark look. The glasses.

Non Reunion

So I was supposed to go to my 20year High School reunion but I never RSVPd so I bailed on it. Crissy and I drove by the restaurant/bar place where the afterparty was supposed to be being held but it looked boring so we left and met up with my cousin Lety. It was her bday so we celebrated with her. Much more fun than the reunion. Here's a pic of us. I'm using the ole lift your head pose. Thanks to Beth for that tip. It makes for a better pic. Can you believe I'm the oldest? Just joking Maria and Lety.

What NOT to wear!

Ok, at the Don Omar concert I saw so many DONTs. Unfortunately, I was unable to take lots of pics of them b/c it would have been too obvious. I might have gotten beat up. I saw muffin tops galore. Crunchy hair in three/four different shades. You know what I'm talking about. It seems to be very popular with our gente. Anyway, this pic is of a woman/girl that clearly asked her boyfriend "Does this make my ass look big" and he responded "NO" w/o looking. I even saw a woman wearing a white bra/corset thing. I thought she was paying homage to Madonna but than I figured she's probably too young to remember that look. She's just a skank. Hahaha. Here you go.

Don Omar

So I got tickets to see Don Omar on Thursday night. I was supposed to go with my Colombian friend, Lenin, but he was sick. I ended up meeting up with my friend Anna Maria, another Colombian friend, and her husband. He was supposed to come on at 9:00 but of course he didn't til 11:00. I ended up spending time watching some of the hoochies with their slutty outfits and the others with the muffin tops. Anyway I stayed and watched him for a couple of songs. He is much sexier in person than on tv and/or print. His dancers were so fabulous. The girls had moves I can't even imagine doing. They probably burn 1200 calories a show. Here's a pic.

New purchases

Ok, I really don't need anymore clothes or shoes. Want maybe but need not so much so I'm focusing my attention on decorating my house and getting organized. I recently purchased two Ghost chairs and a Bourgie lamp I've been wanting forever. DWR had a sales(10% off) so I got off my butt and bought them. My next purchase is a desk for my jewelry making and a new couch. My friend Isabel is recommending a white leather sofa and I'm really liking the idea. Can't really buy a new couch made of fabric b/c Gato and MiuMiu would totally go to town on it like my two newly uphosltered chairs. As for the desk I'm going to look at a consignment store or used b/c new desks are usually made of some cheap laminate or they are overly prices. Yes, I'm cheap and I'm saving my money for that new pair of Louboutins or Giuseppi Zanotti's I saw yesterday at Saks. HOT!

Fun packed weekend

So I ended up going to the LSU and Saints game this wknd. I started out at 6:00am on Saturday b/c I had to pack(to spend the night in BatonRouge) and vote and be out of town by 7:30am at the latest. Bryan asked me to please be in BR by 9:00am. I was and we ended up being on campus by 10:00ish. We didn't get home til 1:00am in the morning. Between the game starting at 8:00pm and the traffic afterwards we got home pretty late. We had to be up by 8:00am the next morning to leave town by 10:00am to make it to the game which we did. Needless to say I was totally wiped out last night to the point that Beth and I met Isabel for some shopping at Saks and I was sooooo tired I couldn't think straight. Of course, I could think straight enough to buy me some new RayBan aviators. They are sooo nice. My Pradas are on their last legs. I'm also getting some new contact lenses this week. I'm goin to see if I can wear them this time. Here's two pics of Bryan and I wearing our team colors. Had a really fun weekend. I'll post my latest pics of purchases later.

My baby

I went to my annual gyn appt today and it took three hours. Normally I would be pissed off at my docter but I love her to death b/c she's so cool and laid back. She also told me I didn't have to freeze my eggs(in case I wanted to have a baby later in life) because she had her kid late in life too. So as I was bored out of mind waiting I picked up this magazine and I swear this baby could be my baby. She won some contest on GMA. The other babies aren't anywhere near as cute as Roman, Amanda or lil man Felix. All I have to say is b/c my gyn is also an ob the waiting room was filled with pregnant woman. Made me think I was missing out on something. Maybe or maybe not. Can't imagine giving up my life but I guess you'll know when the time is right, right?

I love my job

Anyway, one of my clients is the local zoo and the other day I had to go onsite to oversee an installation of some equipment. While I was in the building I noticed two peacocks hanging around the bldg. It was so nice to see them lounging with not a care in the world. Some people have desk jobs(sometimes I get stuck at my desk) and it sucks so being able to visit other places during the day is great. Check out my friend the peacock. Colorful plummage always brightens my day.

Itsy bitsy bikini

Well I bought this bikini in Brazil when I visited my friend Angela and was comfortable walking around wearing practically nothing b/c everyone was doing it in Bahia. Yes, I know just because you can walk around with the smallest bikini in the world in another country doesn't mean you can do it in the US. Needless to say I bought quite a few small bikinis but by far this one is my favorite. Anyway, I've been excercising and eating well in order to get into it. I can get into it but it's not that cute. It's tiny and shows a sliver of butt crack in the back which I think is sexy. i hung it in my dressing room/closet to keep me motivated. I'm on a mission to lose about 10lbs before we go to Hawaii. Wish me luck. I'm doing aerobic excercises now besides weight training. My butt is totally in shape but I have the dreaded muffin top or is it? I'm high waisted so all my weight is held below my waist. Anyway could be worse I could have saddle bags, right?

Jinxed myself

Well, Crissy called me Friday at 4:30pm and asked what I had planned for the wknd. I told her I had a weekend packed with fun. Jinxed myself. Doesn't that always happen. I was supposed to go to Oktoberfest, dinner with some colleagues on Friday, LSU game on Saturday, Saints game and wedding on Sunday. I misread a text and messed up the dates and it was Saturday the day Beth could go to OcktoberFest so we had to cancel. Turns out this was the start of a very bad wknd. I snapped at Bryan for getting into town late(it was raining) and it put a damper on the whole wknd. Sorry babe! He was miffed at me and I was miffed at him. Well we got up early on Saturday to head to Baton Rouge for the Florida game and started tailgating at 11:00am and we were late. People were already there. I wish I could be as fervent as he is about the games but I'm not. I just can't drink for 10 hours with lots of people I don't know and not be a drunk which for me equals an emotional rollercoaster. If any of you know our family we can't hold our booze. Needless to say we left the game early and had a huge fight. I know I ruined his big game and I'm posting this in case he ever reads my blog and understands that I'm sorry. I know that he's sorry too. Drinking with stuff on my mind(pissed) usally equals big blowup for me. Communications isn't my thing. Anyway we ended up driving back to town the next morning and going to the Saints game with Robin. We left at the start of the 4th qtr to go to my co-worker's daughter's wedding. It was nice except the Saints ended up losing. They need to get their act together soon. So morale of the post is sometimes don't count your money in front of poor people.

Halloween around the corner...........

Here's a hint of possible costumes.

Mamí y Pop

So Mamí and Pop came to visit for the week. They arrived on Monday via Amtrak and couldn't stop talking about it. They want to go to California now. Maybe in the future. Anyway, they spent the week here. We went to eat Vietnamese & Middle Eastern food. It was lots of fun. They got to go gambling three times at Harrahs. They were successful two out of the three times. Pop even won 250.00. Pretty good for someone who didn't want to go and even called Mamí a devil. :) They left this am via plane all the way to Harlingen. They would have taken the train again but it doesn't go to McAllen only San Antonio. Of course we visisted the French Quarter yesterday and got caught in some showers but the sun came out and we enjoyed some cafe au lait and beignets at Cafe Du Monde. I know it's a cliche but it was very pleasant sitting in the sun listening to the musicians who set up outside of the cafe. Here are some pics of them. One of them is of them and gato. They love him. They'll definitely take him if anything happens to me. They are like proud grandparents.

SAINTS LOSE!

So we went to the game last night and it didn't go so well. The Saints played pretty good up until the last qtr. Oh well, don't know what to say it was fun and the dome was packed but the mood changed pretty quickly. I was rocking my striped black and gold Forever 21 shirt and push up bra. It was a hit. Funny story, after we sat down on our seats which are like 20 rows down from the top of the dome(nose bleed section) I got a tap from Michael b/c some guy behind him asked him to tap me. Lo and behold, it was one of my ex's, who shall remain nameless, brother was sitting behind him. Well after this so called boyfriend of mine moved away he asked to borrow some money and I being the kind hearted person lent it to him. Well four years later I'm still waiting for my money. Oh by the way the guy pretty much came out of the closet when he moved to California. The move to California was good b/c I'd been wanting to breakup with him six months after we started dating. Anyway, what was I supposed to say to his brother other than hello. I couldn't even remember his name. So for the rest of the evening I felt self conscience. Anyway Beth and Michael and I took a cable downtown at 6:00pm and the game didn't start til 7:30pm. We were there by 6:30pmish. I don't know why I wanted to show up early b/c I got home late from work and was in a mad dash to get ready. I was frazzled by the time the cab picked us up. Well needless to say I woke this morning and realized I'd lost my keys. Just when I was about to panic, Beth calls and says the cab driver dropped them off at her Starbucks(she's a manager at it). Wow, isn't that amazing. I'm always amazed by people. The funny thing is I told them when we got out of the cab to make sure they didn't forget anything in it. Too funny. Here some pics of the dome and me and Bryan who had to work late so he showed up after the 1st qtr. The pic of me and Bryan was taken after the game at this dive bar which is a post for another day b/c our experience there is so f*&king funny. Mami and Pop are coming in this evening on the Amtrak train from Houston. More posts to follow b/c they always make for an eventful week.

GEAUX SAINTS!!!

Well tonight is the first home game for the New Orleans Saints. I've got four season tickets and my lucky guests are as follows. Bryan, Beth and Michael. It should be lots of fun. The only problem is Vince Young. I hope he doesn't play b/c I might have to root for him a tad since he is a UT Alumn and ya'll know I am too! Go Horns. Let me get back to the moral of this story. What will I wear to the game? Yes, I do own two Colston jerseys(one in white and one in black) however since it's a night game I've decided to dress up a bit. I picked up this cute black and gold stripped shirt at my go to store Forever 21. It's very form fitting with a deep V. I will be rocking them with some black stovepipe/skinny leg pants not jeans. I bought them at Anthropologie in NYC and I've drycleaned them every time yet they are still kind of fading. This leads me to believe one of two things. The cheap ass cleaner of mine is secretly washing them or just steaming them or they are cheaply made and I paid too much for them. There was a really funny article on Anthropologie on Jezebel. Read it it's pretty funny especially the comments. http://jezebel.com/gossip/top/anthropologie-doesnt-care-about-black-people-285414.php. Anyway back to the Saints game. Should be fun and I'll be sure to have a cocktail or two. We take our own booze(grey goose) b/c their prices are out of control. $9.00 for a double which is usually a single anywhere else in this city. The beers are $7.00. That's highway robbery if you ask me. Guess they have to pay for the upgrades/repairs somehow. I'll post some pics from the game tomorrow. Wish us luck!!!

Have you seen this before?

So I was at my friend Mark's house and noticed this cat on his shelf. Somehow I'd missed it when I had visited him before. Well the cat is a sculpture that he picked up in Austin. The best part of the cat is that he comes with different hats that you can change depending on the season/holiday. It's too cute. I made him change the hat to the Halloween one bc he was still rocking the 4th of July Statue of Liberty crown. Anyway I want it but Mark won't give it to me so I'm looking for one or something similar to it.
Some of you might know Mark some of you ladies should be knowing him. Mark is a friend whom I met years ago when I worked with him. He is a graphics designer but he's also an artist. I like to refer to him as a renaissance man. I've seen some of his work and he's really talented. Ladies he's moving to Austin soon so get him while you can or get ready when he arrives. Here's a link to Mark's website in case you want to see what he does. http://crawdadposter.com/ his other website is http://www.markrosenbohm.com/ but it's under construction so check it out later.

20 Year High School Reunion

Well, looks like PSJA High School Class of 1988 is having their 20th year reunion and I've decided to go. Haven't sent my money but I'm sure they'll take it if it's late. It's on the wknd of October 26. I'll either be flying in on Thursday nite or Friday morning. It's my my bday wknd or at least it's the wknd before my bday on the 30th. Don't forget to send me my gifts. I'd appreciate if you send them to my office. ;)
So because I'll be going to my reunion I want to look better than normal. Yes, my head doesn't fit in my office as I'm typing. I've decided to begin doing cardio/aerobic excercises in order to get in better shape. My first step was returning to my gym(New Orleans Athletic Center) which is pretty amazing. I felt wonderful afterwards except I had a hard time falling asleep last night. I thought working out made you sleep better. I've posted a pic of my new and improved booty courtesy of my trainer Noe. He helps me with my weight training and has been harping on me to quit eatin. Well that isn't going ot happen so I've decided to work out on the other five days I don't work out with him. I've got a four pack but it's hidden under a layer of fat so hopefully with the aerobic workouts I'll lose some fat. Check out the booty. Doesn't look like 36 year old ass does it? That's hot!! Those are my 14.00 jeans from Marshalls. Yeah!!!!

JENA 6

So why do I walk in this morning to my office and find three co-workers discussing some issue and they stopped talking as soon as I walked in? They are all older white people. Well lo and behold, as I walked to my office I heard them finishing up talking about the JENA 6 march. Of course they wouldn't talk to me about that issue b/c I guess I'm a little too liberal for them. Liberal or openminded?
I know that it's been over forty years since the civil rights marches of the sixties but lots of people especially in the Metro New Orleans area still have some racist views. It's not blatant but it's there. I had a tub refinisher at my house one day and he decided to start talking smack about black people. Just because I'm Latina or other than white(that's what my license choice was when I moved to La.) doesn't mean that I'm going to sit around and let you spout racist remarks. Needless to say I cut him off. I would have thrown him out I didn't b/c like every other self-centered American I thought "who will finish my tub". I know some people don't think they are racist but they just don't realize their statements say something else. Ignorance is hard to conquer. I think this is an issue that happens all over the US not just in La. We might not have segregation but racism still lives just in different forms. Ok, that's as serious as I'm going to get.

CHEAP SHOES

So in April 05 I was in Vegas for a convention and needed a pair of brown shoes. I ran over to Aldos and bought some shoes. I know I know all their shoes are made in China and worse yet they are cheap knockoffs of designer shoes. Well, the pair finally the bucket. I seem to have broken them. It's never happened to any of my shoes but this pair bit the dust. Moral of the story. Don't buy cheap shoes. Even my cobbler, Mr. Jimmy couldn't fix him(he took it apart and discovered the shoe was broken) and he felt so bad he didn't charge me for stretching another pair of shoes. Looks like I have a reason to buy new brown shoes in the spring since it they were a warm weather shoe. BTW, stopped by Target to see their new GO designer. Alice Temperley so rocked this collection. More later....

My teeth

So I'd been postponing by teeth cleaning. Normally I go ever six months but the lady at the dentists office pissed me off with her harassing calls about setting up an appt so I didn't go in July. Well I went this morning and my teeth are still hurting. Turns out I have been grinding my teeth which has caused inflammation of the gums which helps hide plaque/tarter. She scrapped the hell out of my teeth. Have to go back next week to get a mouth guard or something like that to put in my mouth when I sleep. Oh, I guess I should mention here that I don't floss regularly. Ok, I floss maybe once a week. I know I know. I'm going to do it every night from now on. Well, after the pain inflicted on my teeth I wanted some retail therapy. I've been jonesing for some vintage/thrift store purchases so I stopped by a Goodwill. I picked up a cordorouy jumper. Yes, it's brandnew and probably from the eighties and I'm in love. Maybe I'll wear maybe not. Oh, I also picked up a black/royal blue suede Lillie Rubin outfit. It's so Alexis Carrington(Dynasty). It's hot. Forgot my camera or it would so be on my blog

HAVE YOU SEEN MY SCARF

I received these gloves as a Xmas gift back in 2004 from a friend along with the matching scarf. Unfortunately, the scarf has disappeared. I vaguely remember lending it to someone but I don't remember who. Have you seen it? They are a Ralph Lauren set and I would really like them back together. They belong together. Please don't keep them apart they are hurting being apart.

You guys know how much I am a stickler for matching sets. If I lent it to you and you lost it or misplaced that's OK just not knowing where it is is driving me CRAZY! OK, I just want to know. If you suspect someone of having it you can send me an anonymous email. There is a small reward if any information leads to the safe return of this scarf. Please no lead is too small.
