SAINTS LOSE!

So we went to the game last night and it didn't go so well. The Saints played pretty good up until the last qtr. Oh well, don't know what to say it was fun and the dome was packed but the mood changed pretty quickly. I was rocking my striped black and gold Forever 21 shirt and push up bra. It was a hit. Funny story, after we sat down on our seats which are like 20 rows down from the top of the dome(nose bleed section) I got a tap from Michael b/c some guy behind him asked him to tap me. Lo and behold, it was one of my ex's, who shall remain nameless, brother was sitting behind him. Well after this so called boyfriend of mine moved away he asked to borrow some money and I being the kind hearted person lent it to him. Well four years later I'm still waiting for my money. Oh by the way the guy pretty much came out of the closet when he moved to California. The move to California was good b/c I'd been wanting to breakup with him six months after we started dating. Anyway, what was I supposed to say to his brother other than hello. I couldn't even remember his name. So for the rest of the evening I felt self conscience. Anyway Beth and Michael and I took a cable downtown at 6:00pm and the game didn't start til 7:30pm. We were there by 6:30pmish. I don't know why I wanted to show up early b/c I got home late from work and was in a mad dash to get ready. I was frazzled by the time the cab picked us up. Well needless to say I woke this morning and realized I'd lost my keys. Just when I was about to panic, Beth calls and says the cab driver dropped them off at her Starbucks(she's a manager at it). Wow, isn't that amazing. I'm always amazed by people. The funny thing is I told them when we got out of the cab to make sure they didn't forget anything in it. Too funny. Here some pics of the dome and me and Bryan who had to work late so he showed up after the 1st qtr. The pic of me and Bryan was taken after the game at this dive bar which is a post for another day b/c our experience there is so f*&king funny. Mami and Pop are coming in this evening on the Amtrak train from Houston. More posts to follow b/c they always make for an eventful week.

GEAUX SAINTS!!!

Well tonight is the first home game for the New Orleans Saints. I've got four season tickets and my lucky guests are as follows. Bryan, Beth and Michael. It should be lots of fun. The only problem is Vince Young. I hope he doesn't play b/c I might have to root for him a tad since he is a UT Alumn and ya'll know I am too! Go Horns. Let me get back to the moral of this story. What will I wear to the game? Yes, I do own two Colston jerseys(one in white and one in black) however since it's a night game I've decided to dress up a bit. I picked up this cute black and gold stripped shirt at my go to store Forever 21. It's very form fitting with a deep V. I will be rocking them with some black stovepipe/skinny leg pants not jeans. I bought them at Anthropologie in NYC and I've drycleaned them every time yet they are still kind of fading. This leads me to believe one of two things. The cheap ass cleaner of mine is secretly washing them or just steaming them or they are cheaply made and I paid too much for them. There was a really funny article on Anthropologie on Jezebel. Read it it's pretty funny especially the comments. http://jezebel.com/gossip/top/anthropologie-doesnt-care-about-black-people-285414.php. Anyway back to the Saints game. Should be fun and I'll be sure to have a cocktail or two. We take our own booze(grey goose) b/c their prices are out of control. $9.00 for a double which is usually a single anywhere else in this city. The beers are $7.00. That's highway robbery if you ask me. Guess they have to pay for the upgrades/repairs somehow. I'll post some pics from the game tomorrow. Wish us luck!!!

Have you seen this before?

So I was at my friend Mark's house and noticed this cat on his shelf. Somehow I'd missed it when I had visited him before. Well the cat is a sculpture that he picked up in Austin. The best part of the cat is that he comes with different hats that you can change depending on the season/holiday. It's too cute. I made him change the hat to the Halloween one bc he was still rocking the 4th of July Statue of Liberty crown. Anyway I want it but Mark won't give it to me so I'm looking for one or something similar to it.
Some of you might know Mark some of you ladies should be knowing him. Mark is a friend whom I met years ago when I worked with him. He is a graphics designer but he's also an artist. I like to refer to him as a renaissance man. I've seen some of his work and he's really talented. Ladies he's moving to Austin soon so get him while you can or get ready when he arrives. Here's a link to Mark's website in case you want to see what he does. http://crawdadposter.com/ his other website is http://www.markrosenbohm.com/ but it's under construction so check it out later.

20 Year High School Reunion

Well, looks like PSJA High School Class of 1988 is having their 20th year reunion and I've decided to go. Haven't sent my money but I'm sure they'll take it if it's late. It's on the wknd of October 26. I'll either be flying in on Thursday nite or Friday morning. It's my my bday wknd or at least it's the wknd before my bday on the 30th. Don't forget to send me my gifts. I'd appreciate if you send them to my office. ;)
So because I'll be going to my reunion I want to look better than normal. Yes, my head doesn't fit in my office as I'm typing. I've decided to begin doing cardio/aerobic excercises in order to get in better shape. My first step was returning to my gym(New Orleans Athletic Center) which is pretty amazing. I felt wonderful afterwards except I had a hard time falling asleep last night. I thought working out made you sleep better. I've posted a pic of my new and improved booty courtesy of my trainer Noe. He helps me with my weight training and has been harping on me to quit eatin. Well that isn't going ot happen so I've decided to work out on the other five days I don't work out with him. I've got a four pack but it's hidden under a layer of fat so hopefully with the aerobic workouts I'll lose some fat. Check out the booty. Doesn't look like 36 year old ass does it? That's hot!! Those are my 14.00 jeans from Marshalls. Yeah!!!!

JENA 6

So why do I walk in this morning to my office and find three co-workers discussing some issue and they stopped talking as soon as I walked in? They are all older white people. Well lo and behold, as I walked to my office I heard them finishing up talking about the JENA 6 march. Of course they wouldn't talk to me about that issue b/c I guess I'm a little too liberal for them. Liberal or openminded?
I know that it's been over forty years since the civil rights marches of the sixties but lots of people especially in the Metro New Orleans area still have some racist views. It's not blatant but it's there. I had a tub refinisher at my house one day and he decided to start talking smack about black people. Just because I'm Latina or other than white(that's what my license choice was when I moved to La.) doesn't mean that I'm going to sit around and let you spout racist remarks. Needless to say I cut him off. I would have thrown him out I didn't b/c like every other self-centered American I thought "who will finish my tub". I know some people don't think they are racist but they just don't realize their statements say something else. Ignorance is hard to conquer. I think this is an issue that happens all over the US not just in La. We might not have segregation but racism still lives just in different forms. Ok, that's as serious as I'm going to get.

CHEAP SHOES

So in April 05 I was in Vegas for a convention and needed a pair of brown shoes. I ran over to Aldos and bought some shoes. I know I know all their shoes are made in China and worse yet they are cheap knockoffs of designer shoes. Well, the pair finally the bucket. I seem to have broken them. It's never happened to any of my shoes but this pair bit the dust. Moral of the story. Don't buy cheap shoes. Even my cobbler, Mr. Jimmy couldn't fix him(he took it apart and discovered the shoe was broken) and he felt so bad he didn't charge me for stretching another pair of shoes. Looks like I have a reason to buy new brown shoes in the spring since it they were a warm weather shoe. BTW, stopped by Target to see their new GO designer. Alice Temperley so rocked this collection. More later....

My teeth

So I'd been postponing by teeth cleaning. Normally I go ever six months but the lady at the dentists office pissed me off with her harassing calls about setting up an appt so I didn't go in July. Well I went this morning and my teeth are still hurting. Turns out I have been grinding my teeth which has caused inflammation of the gums which helps hide plaque/tarter. She scrapped the hell out of my teeth. Have to go back next week to get a mouth guard or something like that to put in my mouth when I sleep. Oh, I guess I should mention here that I don't floss regularly. Ok, I floss maybe once a week. I know I know. I'm going to do it every night from now on. Well, after the pain inflicted on my teeth I wanted some retail therapy. I've been jonesing for some vintage/thrift store purchases so I stopped by a Goodwill. I picked up a cordorouy jumper. Yes, it's brandnew and probably from the eighties and I'm in love. Maybe I'll wear maybe not. Oh, I also picked up a black/royal blue suede Lillie Rubin outfit. It's so Alexis Carrington(Dynasty). It's hot. Forgot my camera or it would so be on my blog

HAVE YOU SEEN MY SCARF

I received these gloves as a Xmas gift back in 2004 from a friend along with the matching scarf. Unfortunately, the scarf has disappeared. I vaguely remember lending it to someone but I don't remember who. Have you seen it? They are a Ralph Lauren set and I would really like them back together. They belong together. Please don't keep them apart they are hurting being apart.

You guys know how much I am a stickler for matching sets. If I lent it to you and you lost it or misplaced that's OK just not knowing where it is is driving me CRAZY! OK, I just want to know. If you suspect someone of having it you can send me an anonymous email. There is a small reward if any information leads to the safe return of this scarf. Please no lead is too small.

Rainy day in New Orleans

Well it's been rainy all day here in New Orleans. Started at 8:00am b/c I checked my ipod when I woke up this am. Yes, I woke up at 8:00am. Life is good. Anyway it's been raining off and on all day. It's good b/c it cools down the city but not cool b/c it floods really easy and my car is low to the ground(I'll post of pic of it later). So I had to go out in the rain to drop off a piece of equipment for a client. He's a great client so I didn't mind getting a little wet. Well while at Dillard University's campus I saw the cutest thing. I saw a family of ducks. They've got this big pond but this family had little ducklings. They were so cute and they crossed right in front of me and I yielded to them. Tooo cute for words. It totally brightened the day. Check it out.

3:10 to Yuma

So I went to watch 3:10 to Yuma b/c my hottie Christian Bale is in it. Well all I have to say is it's the best damn western I've seen in a long time. Russell Crowe stole the movie and that's hard for me to say b/c he isn't my favorite. Some of the other actors were pretty fabulous too. I'm going to go see it again and I'll probably buy the DVD that's how good it is. BTW, when did water start costing $3.50? It was Dasani for Christ sakes it wasn't even sparkling water. XOXO

Tailgating at LSU

Ok, I've been to a LSU game before but this past Saturday was the first time I've been to the whole tailgating thing. Bryan's parents(who hosted some frat guys and ya'll know what that means) were tailgating along with some of his friends and associates. We had to visit with his friends and associates before we headed back to his parents tailgating party. Luckily those frat boys didn't touch my Grey Goose or I would have thrown down with some of them. I think they were Sig Eps or something like that. They seemed to devour everything in sight and even drank Bryan's Negro Modelo. I wasn't surprised. What to do you expect from college kids? Not much. Let me tell you some of the stuff I saw. I don't ever remember UT tailgating being this crazy. I saw people with complete theatre systems setup for watching the game which didn't start til like 8:15pm. The best thing I saw was this trailor that had unloaded two margarita machines, PA speakers on tripods, a bar setup, a beer cooler you see in stores and other stuff. Check out one of the pics. I also saw a motorized ice cooler. See pic for that one too. Maybe if some of those people spent some of their ingenuity(sp) on making LSU a better school it might be ranked higher in some of the academic rankings. People had stuffed animals(bengal tigers) on the roof of their cars, table tops and pretty much everywhere. Everyone was dressed in purple/gold(yellow). Matching shoes, caps, shirts, socks and of course crocs. Of course I saw a drunk student or two. You guys remember those days. I also posted a pic of where we were seating.

Ok, now back to me. It was like 100 degrees out there and with all the walking my ankles swelled up. Not a attractive look for me. Bryan bought me my first piece of LSU garb(a purple polo). Thanks sweetie. Anyway I accessorized as best I could with some white shorts with some sandals from hell. They are cute but standing in wood soles drinking all day is not good. Anyway while waiting for Bryan(from now on referred to as B) earlier in the day I picked up a cute yellow/gold satiny top. Ya'll know me. I'm not a polo shirt kind of wearing girl unless it's Lacoste and a snug fit. Well by the start of the game my white shorts were toast from sweating and sitting on pretty much anything I could. I changed into my cute billowy top with some jeans and my trusty Havainnas and I was set. Still looking cute of course after sweating my ass off for a good solid eight hours. Once in the stadium it started to rain. Of course I went back in so my hair wouldn't get jacked up and to "look for a poncho". Ok maybe I wasn't looking for a poncho but I did get a chance to rest my feet b/c B said I had to stand for the first half. Later in the game he mentioned that he was just joking. My sausage feet weren't happy. Anyway we didn't get home til close to 1:00am b/c of traffic. It was a fun but very exhausting day! Keep you posted on my Saints Monday night game!

CHASE BANK SUCKS!!!!

So I bank with Chase Bank here in New Orleans. I have my checking account, savings account and a line of credit(for home improvements) so I know they are a huge company. I've got a real issue with them. After two years of rebuilding after Katrina they haven't rebuilt the two banks on Carrollton Avenue. Considering that I live off Carrollton Ave this is starting to be a major pain. First they put a trailer, yes a trailer at the corner of Carrollton and Claiborne where only two maybe three customers could be in it at one time. Yes, that means that if you were #4 or #5 and so on you had to wait outside in the heat and/or cold depending on what type of weather it was. I could almost live with that b/c they had a drive thru ATM machine which was pretty convenient. Well low and behold they decide to put another trailer at the second location on Carrollotion(the neighborhood is a little rougher) and Earhart and putting up an ATM on the property. Turns out they are tearing down the bank at the intersection of Claiborne. That's cool but they closed the ATM lane which sucks b/c now I have to go to the other ATM. The ATM at Carrollton and Earhart is not a drive thru it's a park your car and walk up and get mugged type of ATM. I've tried to pull out money twice at night and have left before pulling out money. First of all random people hang out in that area at night and I'm not going to take the chance that a.) I get carjacked b.) get robbed c.) get shot. Second, even during the day that area is out of control b/c there are people lined up in the heat and humidity(ya'll know how it is down here) waiting to get into the trailer BANK and people are parking everywhere so there is no convenient place to park. Have you ever heard of this anywhere else but New Orleans? Chase Bank is a multi BILLION dollar company and I don't think it should take 2 years to demolish a damaged building and start building another and I sure as hell don't think they should use these trailers. Talk about lack of customer service. How would you like to spend a 1/2 hour waiting in 90 degree weather waiting to see a teller? Are we not deserving of better treatment? I know you're thinking just go to another branch. Shouldn't you be able to bank in a convenient and safe environment? Don't banks work for us? If you bank with CHASE make sure you write an email or letter and tell them you are disappointed at their committment to rebuilding New Orleans. I've posted a pic of the ATM and trailer. It was around 9:30am so it wasn't as bad. You can see people waiting outside. I've driven by during the day and there have been like twenty people waiting outside. GHETTO, BARRIO, TRAILER TRASH whatever you want to call it. Don't you just love the pipes on the side of the trailer. We deserve better.

Pics from my Labor Day Shoot 2006

In celebration that another year has gone by I've decided to post some of the pics I took last year. Here's some pictures from the pinup shoot that Raquel and I did. It was fun except for sweating buckets. I didn't know that her warehouse(666 Photography) where we were doing the pictures didn't have AC and it was Labor Day wknd in Austin, Texas 2006 not 2007. It was lots of fun b/c we got to play dressup. I picked out some of the best ones.

Why I love New York

I wasn't going to post anymore about my trip to New York but a couple of things came up. First of all some dumb store clerk at the SoHo#1 H&M store left the theft deterrent tag on. The funny thing is H&M usually have serious security so how did I leave the store with the tag still on the dress. Now that I'm thousands of miles away from the nearest H&M store what am I supposed to do. Well, Bryan said he'd take it to the mall and see if he could get someone to take it off. :) What a sweetheart. Anyway, the other thing was about this cool little Indian restuarant called Milam. It's probably like 12 ft wide and maybe 35 feet deep and packed full of tables and the ceiling is loaded down with all kind of lights, beach balls and crazy Xmas like decorations. Everytime I'm in the city Nicky and I and friends end up eating there. It's run by people from Bangladesh and the food is cheap and yummy. The best part of the dinner is when they sing Happy Birthday to people. I always try to describe it but I don't think I ever get the point across so I took some footage. Here it is. It's sooo funny. Posting the footage later b/c it's taking to long and I am at work. ;) I've added a pic of the ceiling. It's probably a fire hazard.

De Todo Un Poco

I don't know if you guys know but on Tuesday nights I help produce a Spanish language show here in town. Basically I sit in a television control room and guide the host through the show. I make sure he throw to breaks and videos(it's a live show at 9:00pm) and we finish within the hour time slot. Here's a pic of two of the guys who work on the show. I sit behind them at the producer's desk. I've been doing it for several years now and I love it. I have lots of fun and actually get to use some of the equipment I sell. The show is called De Todo Un Poco and we had a show last night and on the 28th of August we had a 13th anniversary show. Congrats Julio! Julio is the show's host and he and his wife Olga are like my favorite aunt and uncle. :)
