Patty's Annual Christmas List

This year I decided to keep it simple and cheap cause of the economy and all that. I've got my health, happiness and all that jazz so I can't be any happier. Ok, I can always be happier but I'm not going on those damn pills no matter what the doctor said. I like my huge highs and lows. How else would I know I'm happy and/or sad if I didn't have a minor breakdown every other day? I know what you're thinking no I'm not crazy just special. Anyway I haven't really been updating my blog lately but I promise if Santa brings me a new camera with a working flash I will definitely post more often. No Santa isn't Bryan. Better not be. Guys here's the list of stuff I need not want.

1. Black socks so you can’t see my toes when I wear open toed shoes or take off my shoes. Yes, it’s happened to me and it's a bit embarrasing and using dirty socks isn't sexy. Long and short ones are good.
2. Cheese plate. Made of wood so I don’t have to borrow Isabel’s and than take two weeks to get it back to her.
3. Black leggings from American Apparel. I have two pairs and they are always dirty and one pair has a hole in it. They would definitely be loved and used regularly.
4. Winter white tights not leggings. I’d prefer some Spanx cause my ass is huge. Yes, I’ve put some pounds on and my wish came true. I’m now a proud owner of a big juicy ass.
5. Gold Lame tights from American Apparel. Ok I don’t really need these but how bad ass would they be to wear to a game?
6. Some of that ROCK nail stuff from Sally’s. Yes it causes birth defects but it makes your nails look shiny for a while and protects the color so my pedicure last a couple weeks longer. Yeah the nails get long but the color is still rocking.
7. Lingerie wash bag. I’ve been washing everything in Hand Wash mode but I don’t think my clothes are getting clean. Work out clothes don't do so well in hand wash mode especially if I decide to eat that greasy taco in my work out clothes.
8. Hot rollers. Yes, I would so love to curl my hair old school style. I’ve seemed to lost all of my natural curl so I’ve got to get them back the old fashioned way. Heat
9. Pizza tray- Can you believe I don’t own one? Since I love to make homemade pizza dough with my copious amount of free time I definitely need one. Ok, I don’t make it I pick up fresh dough at Whole Foods for about $3.00. I’m not fucking Martha Stewart you know.
10. Booze- Yes, I like the fire water in any form. I’m a big fan of Absolute New Orleans & Grey Goose. I also need some vermouth in case I wanted to make a martini for my grown up friends. Yes, I have some and if you are reading this it's probably not you.. I’m also in need of some wine preferably Pinot Noirs, Pinot Grigios, & Pouilly Fusses. Ok, let’s not kid ourselves I love all wines except the kind in boxes. Call me a snob. Although it does work in a pinch for making Sangria. I’m also a fan of the Cava preferably in multiple bottles.
Bonus Items: The tray from Ikea that’s made of glass and has several compartments to serve different things in it. Just broke it last night. Also I’d like some round serving trays. Also need outfits for Rico my friend for the upcoming holidays like Mardi Gras, Valentine’s Day etc. Do you know Rico?

Saints game

So last night was the first Monday Night Football game for the Saints for this season. I was wearing my brand new Saints shirt courtesy of Robin. It was my birthday gift. I didn't have my camera charger for a while since I left it in Austin and I got it back on Friday but I forgot the camera at my office which meant I couldn't charge it. Anyways my friend Rome who sits next to Bryan and I at the game took this picture. It's not the best since it's kind of fuzzy but I think it's cute. I'll post my pictures of this wknd with updates. Yes I came come at 4:00am on Halloween night/morning after. Party!!!

Baking Skills

This Sunday I was invited to a Saints game at Autumn and Gary's so I decided to make some cupcakes and caramel apples for the shindig. Anyway I decided to take the extra step and jazz him them up with the Saints logo. I got my friend to cut out a fleur- de- lis on paper and I decorated the cupcakes with black sugar. Check them out. It's devils food cake with cream cheese frosting. They were a hit. My caramel apples were a big hit also. Someone at the party asked if I made the caramel. He's a chef at Stella a really nice restaurant here in New Orleans and he said it was easy. I'm sure with time I could have but microwaving the caramel candies was hard enough. Just kidding. Robin did help me unwrap the candies. I could have bought the already unwrapped ones but for the same price I got about 3 more ounces so I went with the wrapped ones. I also made a practice run on some ghost cupcakes I'm going to make for the people working on DeTodo tomorrow. Check him out.

Happy Halloween!

So it's my favorite time of the year. The weather has finally cooled down and Halloween is just around the corner. Halloween is my favorite time of the year since it falls one day after my birthday so it's a celebration all weekend long. I've already been to one Halloween party this year and of course I broke out the old Catholic School outfit. Bryan was a professor and I was his student. It was cheap costume(I had all the components in my wardrobe don't ask) and it's all about the savings this year since the economy is in the tank. I'll post pictures of me in my costume as soon as I get them from Bryan. Left my camera charger in Austin and still waiting for Crissy to send it to me. She's got a six month old and three year old so I might be waiting a while. I look like a 15 year old Asian girl. Kinda creepy. When I put my hair in pigtails I look expressly young and Asian. Anyway, Bryan and I are thinking about going as sexual positions for Halloween. Bryan as missionary and I as reverse cowgirl. My friend Beth might be going as masturbation and we are trying to get another friend to go as the wheel barrow. Trying to figure that one out. Anyway I will post pictures later as soon as I get them. XO

My obsession

So while I was in France I saw all these cute Parisian girls running around in adorable leather sandals in all kinds of cool colors and styles. They were so nice and I kept seeing them in shops but some of them looked cheap and not as nice as the ones I saw on the girls. So one day I was getting ready for bed in my hotel and I had the tv on some French show thinking that I could absorb the French language via osmosis. No not really but I thought it would probably be a good thing to hear it more. Anyway they had this show on about this company that made all their sandals handmade. The interview was in French so I didn't understand very much but it showed people making them in the factory. They were gorgeous and they were the same as the ones I wanted. Anyway I did find similiar ones to the ones on the tv show and on the girls but they were made in Spain. I thought to myself just wait until you get to Barcelona and buy some. Lo and behold I get to Barcelona and I spent all three days looking for them and never found the kind of sandal I wanted. Boohoo. So as soon as I got back to the states I tried to find them online to no avail. Lucky for me Isabel was able to locate them for me. They are made my this company K.Jacques and they are $200.00 sandals. I'm so tempted to buy some because they will probably last a lifetime but I'll probably wait this obsession out. Check their website out. http://www.kjacques.fr/index.php?cPath=28_29 for all the different styles and colors.

Fall/Winter 2009 Purchases

So I've decided to make a few purchases for Fall/Winter to update my wardrobe. Nothing too crazy. I'm kinda broke so might just end up buying on or two things. Here's what I want so far. Some items might be deleted or added as I see fit but this is my basic list.

1. Small leather jacket like a bomber jacket- All the girls in Paris were wearing them even if it was like 80 degrees. I'm not sure if I want a black one or different color. It's funny because when I went to the flea market in Paris they had all these vendors selling these cute small leather jackets like this one. I was so afraid of my lack of French skills I didn't go up to them and buy one. It's one of my regrets about the trip when it comes to what I should have bought when I was over there. Anyway I love the look of this jacket with some slacks or jean trouser jeans. Since it never gets that cold here I can wear it a lot.

2. Short boots. I've got all kinds of boots in black and brown but most of them are high heeled in some manner whether it's a wedge or platform heel. I really want a low pair that is comfy and stylish enough to wear with leggings and a dress. I also want them to be nice. I'm a huge fan of Loefflar Randall but my pocketbook doesn't really care for them. I've wanted some for awhile but I'm not going with the platforms since as mentioned earlier I have to many high heeled boots. I'm not saying I'm buying the flats either just something similar to this one. J.Crew has some really nice ones I've got my eye on but not sure yet if I'll get them.

3. Long strand of pearls. Not real ones of course. For everyday use to funk up some outfits.

4. Blazer-I'm in love with this schoolboy blazer from JCrew. They've got other colors but I kind of like this color b/c it would totally pop with pretty much anything. Ok, I'm just going to ahead and say that I love pretty much anything from the JCrew catalog but this is one of my favorite pieces.

5. Pencil Skirt- I totally want a denim pencil skirt that JCrew has in their current catalog but I'm really in need of a nice black pencil skirt. I've got lots of black skirts but none of them are that one truly great fitting black pencil skirt that you need in your wardrobe.

6. Philip Lim Black leather skirt-It's totally out of my budget but it's so damn cute. I think I could wear this skirt for many winters/falls. It's leather but it looks so light and soft. Maybe if I gave up going out for a month I could save enough to buy it. Hmm is it worth it? I'll have to sleep on it or go out and close some sales.

7. Leather leggings-I'm loving the way they look in catalogs and magazines but I'm not sure how they'll work on me. I've seen quite a few pairs from Alice+Olive, Vince and others but for 800.00 I'm going to take some BR black leather pants to the seamstress and have her tighten the shit out of them. I've got two pairs of the same pants so if she fucks them up I can always wear the other ones. Don't ask about that.

8. Anna Sui Collection for Target -I'm a fan of their designer collections as you can see from my previous posts so I'll be hitting up the local Target to get me a piece or two if it fits right. Nothing worse than being excited for Target's collections and realizing that all their stuff fits really bad.

9. American Apparel Shirt Dress-I saw this in their store and fell for it. I was buying my red dress for the Red Dress Run so I couldn't buy it. Budget you know. It's really absolutely cute and I could wear it with tights and those short boots. Speaking of tights I bought this sheer tights in Paris that I'll be rocking this winter

10. Denim Tunic Dress-Nicky bought one while we were in Barcelona. I wanted one but didn't buy one because I didn't want to seem like I was biting off her style so now I'm left with wanting one. Haven't done to much searching on it but shouldn't be hard to find one.

New Purchase

Ok, so a couple of weeks ago gilt.com had this sale by Edun on their site. I decided to wait list this awesome dress because they were sold out. I ended up getting an email that they had it available and I went ahead and purchased. I didn't know the Edun brand until my friend Isabel told me about it. It's Bono's wife organic cotton line. I got the dress this week and it's so gorgeous and comfy. Check it out. I'm wearing it today with red patent leather wedge heels. It's like wearing a big white t-shirt. I'm going to wear this dress out.

Updates

Hey everyone I'm back and posting. Nothing crazy since I'm broke and I'm not buying anything. What I think I'll do is start posting some of the items I'm finding in my closet to wear and also the battle to lose these damn five pounds that came out of nowhere and parked themselves on my mid section. Today I'm starting my whole workout regimen and diet plan. No fried food or bad carbs. I'll keep you posted. What I should do is post a picture of me in my bikini to shame me into losing the weight.
Nothing crazy this weekend. I did buy a new coffee table that is so cute. I picked it up at a consignment store and Isabel helped me decide on making the purchase and actually getting it to my house since it's got a marble top. I'm working on getting my living room to how I want it to look(like a page out of now defunct Domino magaine). I'll post picture of it later today. On Saturday, Isabel, Andy, Beth and I went to the HiHo Lounge to see some ZydecoPunks band. Had a good time but it was sooo hot inside that we ended up listening to them outside the place. I was wearing a tunic with sheer leggings and I was dying. That's what I get for trying to wear what girls in Paris were wearing. I should have remembered that they don't have the heat and humidity that we have. On Sunday went to see G-force in 3D with Bryan and the kids. It was cute and I love Tracy Morgan so I was happy. I really want to see Moon and the Hurt Locker this week. Also it's time again to break out the ole red dress for the REd Dress Run this saturday. I'll be working on it this week.

Tracy Feith Dress

Here's the dress I mentioned that I got from Target from the new Tracy Feith line. I really like it and I wore it the other day and some woman stopped me at the car dealership and told me she loved the dress and that I looked really good in it. Makes me want to wear it again soon so I can get a compliment or two.
I was looking through my closet and I've racked up some serious clothes from Target's designer collaborations. I think my favorites were Paul & Joe & Alice Temperley. I constantly wear my Paul & Joe jeans because they make my bootie look good and the little sweater is some kind of cool and I only paid like $15.00 for it because I got in on sale in the Valley . I love my pieces from Alice Temperley also but I can only wear them in the winter cause one is a jacket and the other is a long sleeve shirt. Check'em out. I also have pieces from Proenza Schouler, Libertine
(awesome bolero), Patrick Robinson, and I'm sure
others I can't think of at this moment but I'll add them later.

I'm back

So I've been back from Paris and Barcelona for a week. I spent the whole weekend cleaning and washing clothes with a little bit of entertaining on Saturday night. I decided to make Cava Sangria from this mix I bought at William and Sonoma. I wasn't impressed. I'm going to make my own mix next time. I was really missing my pork sausage but I'm going to make it my mission to hunt some down in the city. I did make some quinoa that was fabulous with nothing but tomatoes and onions. It's such a light refreshing side for the summer.

I also ironed all my laundry which I'd washed on Saturday and I also did some hemming and sewing stuff that I'd been unable to wear because it was torn. I also finished this project that's been sitting in my living room for close to a year. It didn't exactly come out how I wanted it to but it's at least finished. I'll post a picture later. I found it in Blueprint the old Martha Stewart design magazine and wanted to do it for a while. I also cleaned up my dining room table that had been laden down with receipts and crap and now it's pretty much cleaned up. I'm kind of proud because I actually finished all my laundry and most of it is either folded, ironed and put away.

I'll be posting pictures of my trip and the cute things I bought!

Target

Here's what I bought from the Alexander McQueen line at Target. I bought the dress and the gray skinny jeans since I mainly own blue jeans and was trying to mix it up on the color front. Although I was a fan of some of the other stuff it did not fit like I would have liked. Of course I had to have the dress altered b/c it was too long and the jeans. The jeans are a funny story. I bought a size 7 and they fit ok not to tight not too loose. Well I lost some weight and they fit real loose so I decided to have them altered. Well from the time I had them altered and brought them home they are fitting a bit snug. Oh well it just makes me get back into eating right and excercising more. Check it out. I also bought a dress from the Tracy Feith line. It's really cute. I will post it later. BTW, I did do some summer dress shopping at Forever 21 but I've decided to stop buying clothes there since it's all disposible clothing and that's not good for the environment. I'll talk more about that later.

Two More Days

Before I leave for Paris and no I haven't practiced my French. My Spanish better do the trick or I'm screwed.

New purchases

I haven't really done must shopping. Yes I know it's a miracle but I have made a couple of purchases at Gilt.com since I last updated the website. Here's a few. They've had some really good designers on their website and I've had to be really good since I am going to Paris in two days. The black shoes are Cynthia Vincent Luella and they are HOT! The jeans are AG Jeans and I'm having them altered since they are made for people who are 6ft. The sunglasses are Oliver Peoples. I lost my other Oliver Peoples pair back in November after having them for about 10 months so I punished myself and wore my old ass Prada pair that are like four years old. They were still in pretty good shape except they were all scratched but hopefully I learned my lesson and won't lose this pair. I got them on Gilt.com so I didn't pay full price. Let me know what you think. I'm going to post some of my purchases from the designer line at Target. You know I love me some Target.

Blog Update

So I haven't updated in forever. I know I know it's crazy but I haven't felt like posting in a while. I've been busy being busy. I told someone I've been busy but when I tried to think about what I've been up to I couldn't exactly pin point what I've been up to lately so I decided to start blogging again. I've been trying to fix up my house and get it ready for my yearly trip. This year I'm going to Paris and Barcelona. I will be in Paris for four days on my own( I don't speak French should be interesting) and Barcelona with my bestie Nicky. We haven't really gotten to spend a lot of time together this past year so it's make up time. I haven't seen her since last July. Ok, so I've been cleaning and organizing my house. I did go to Austin for Memorial Day weekend and I did go to Vegas back in April for like six days for NAB. I will post pictures of NAB but they are already on Facebook. BTW, I'm addicted to Gilt.com. I've gotten some things from them and I'm really happy. I will post more later. XO.

Marc Jacobs Emily Mini Dress

So I was at the store yesterday after work and I was wearing this Marc Jacobs dress I bought in the Fall 2007. I wore it to my nephew's baptism in December 07 and haven't really worn it that often. It's all about the recession you know and you've got to make the most of your current wardrobe. I was feeling frisky and decided to wear it to work yesterday. I wore it with a thin patent leather belt and black patent leather Jimmy Choo heels I have. I was wearing my hair up and was looking rather cute if I may say so myself. There is something really flattering about the dress. It doesn't look that great in the picture but trust me when Marc knows how to fit a dress on a woman. Don't know what it is but maybe it's the way it looks demure in the front and than you turn around and it's got an exposed zipper in the back. Don't know. It's called the Marc Jacobs Emily Mini Dress and it's still sold on Bluefly.com for over $200.00. I can assure you I didn't pay that for my dress and I got it at SAKS. You know I'm cheap. BTW, it isn't a mini on me since I'm only 5' 1".

Anyway, the morale of the story is that this older man in his late 50s or early 60s totally hit on me. He was like "Nice dress". He totally chatted me up as we waited in the checkout lane. It was very cute and it was a huge ego boost. Not as big of an ego boost as getting carded at Harrah's with my parents and Bryan but along those lines. They didn't get carded. ;)

Updates

I swear I'm not drunk in this picture. Just small eyes. You can't see them but I've got cat ears on and a tail in the back.

It was really cold that night and the wind was blowing. Don't think Mami got up from her chair the whole time we were at the parade. She didn't have to move since they threw her lots of beads.

Here's Pop nursing his injury. It looked pretty bad and he wouldn't sit still to make it stop bleeding.

Sorry I haven't blogged like in forever. I've been completely and utterly wrapped up in my life. Couple of things happened recently. I ran a 10K, Beth's birthday bash at the horse track, Mardi Gras and I hurt my back recently. I've been up to a lot of other stuff but I'm trying to keep it short.

First, I decided to run a 10K to try it out. I didn't do so bad. I believe I did it in like 1 hour and 4 minutes. I was doing good til I got to Mile 4 and my knees were killing me. I almost gave up but this old lady passed me up and I was like HELL NO. I ended up getting a second wind and sprinted the last mile. I think that's how I did better than I thought. I've got very muscular thighs and legs so they totally propelled me. I'll post pictures later since I have to get them from Bryan. I wiped my forehead when I finished and I felt all this salt on my forehead from all the sweating I did. On another note, I haven't really run since than since my knees took a real beating. I'm going to start again so I can do the Crescent City Classic in April.

Second, on the day of the 10K I drove back to New Orleans from Baton Rouge to go meet up with Beth and family/friends for her bday celebration at the Fairgrounds. I bet like $5.00 on one race and lost so I didn't bet after that. I wished I hadn't run that morning because I was so tired that day and evening. It really tired me out. I'm posting some pictures of the event.

Mardi Gras was a blast. Mami and Pop came to visit and it was constant entertaining. Bryan & I picked them up in Houston and drove back in their truck. We stopped at IKEA and picked up a couple of things I needed for the house. No furniture just a big rug and stuff like that. Anyway, we got to catch lots of parades. I think Pop's favorite was the Muses which is an all female parade. The best part was the female "dancer" in the shadow box pressing her boobs up against the material in the box. It's hard to describe but I think Pop really liked it. My friend Will drove to the parade route with us and he got along really well with them. Of course my friend Gary won their hearts. Gary is married to Autumn and they recently moved back to town and they are really cool to hang out with us. I'm posting some pictures of the parades. One of the last parades we caught with my parents was Bacchus. Pop got hit in the head with a bag of beads which split open his eyebrow but not to worry he took a shot of Crown Royal and was on his way to catch more beads. He had that Mardi Gras spirit. Have a feeling he'll be back for more. Beth & I decided to costume for Lundi Gras since we usually don't go out and party on Mardi Gras. My favorite parade is Orpheus and it rolls on Monday night. We caught it on St. Charles by Beth's grandmother's house and than Gary, Autumn, Beth & I drove over to the warehouse district and caught the end of it. Beth and I got a little tipsy. I dressed up as a sort of a cat thing. Check out the silver fox hat. I bought it in the quarter and it's vintage. Autumn has a video of me doing shadow puppets with my tail. I haven't seen it but it's a warning to not drink to much. Here's some pictures of the events.

Updates

Well it's been a while since I've posted. Let's see what I've been up to lately. I did run a 5K on the 1st in pretty good time for me. I did it at 29:10. I haven't been running for very long so it's not that bad. My friends Will & Beth ran it with me or we started together. It was fun. Here's some pictures of the event. I did go to an seminar in Dallas last week for a couple of days. Nothing really exciting there. I also went to a resignation party for my friend George. I recently cut my bangs and I haven't gotten used to them. You can see them in the pictures. I'm getting better at styling them so they won't look as blunt as they've looked. Mardi Gras is right around the corner and I'll have pictures of that since my parents are in town. We also celebrated Beth's birthday at the track so I should have some pictures of that. XOXO

I've got lots and lots of updates. I had a really busy weekend so I have to get my pictures off my camera and post them. I'm really busy today so it might be later today. XOXO.

Friday Updates

Well, this week has just zoomed by. I'm about to go get me some lunch and decided to take a break from work and write on the blog before I head out. I've been kind of nervous about work because of the economy but it's really hasn't gotten bad as I'd expected. I've got a big bid due on the 9th and I'll be out of town most of next week at a seminar in Dallas. I'm really excited about it because it's kind of a managerial type of seminar. Anyway I'm looking forward to this weekend. I'm running the 5K with Will and Beth on Sunday and I'm totally excited about it. I'm going to have to go buy some UA stuff to keep me warm because it's going to be in the forties in the am. I hate the cold but figure after a mile or two you won't feel it. I've been exercising and I think I've lost another two pounds. It's those two pounds that come and go so I have to be extra vigilant about them. I've been thinking about going to the SPCA to look at dogs/puppies. I think I might go because I've got all this love to give and I know some little doggie needs a good home. I'm debating it because my cats are so spoiled and I don't think they'd take to a new family member and giving up my freedom is hard. Other than that I'm just getting used to being on my own with no attachments. It's different and hard but each day is easier. I've got a small but true set of friends who are here for me and it's nice to be able to count on them. Not saying it's anywhere easy but one day at a time, right?

New Sofa

So I've had this large sofa and matching chair & ottoman forever. I bought them when I lived off Melpomene in that 3 story townhouse. That's probably like 6/7 years ago. Anyway they were perfect for that place because they were so big and puffy but since than I've moved to my house on Green and now the one on Spain Street and they just don't fit into my new decor and I hated them. I've been wanting to change them to a white leather sofa. No, not those ugly ass ones but rather a nice Chesterfield one from Natuzzi. I researched them and they were way too expensive so I was going to wait it out. However, I went to Renaissance which is a consignment store in Metairie and found this Mitchell+Gold Brady sofa at a incredible price. $600.00 with tax. It was delivered yesterday and it is really amazing what a piece of furniture in the right dimensions will do to a room.

SCORPIO [October 23–November 21] Your world is going to get very wet in the coming days. At least, I hope it will. You need to be carried along in the fertile surge and be returned to the source of your emotional life.

Scorpio
10/23 – 11/21

New Year, New Things

Sorry I haven't written in forever. Busy wrapping up some stuff in my life. You know what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I'm feeling pretty good about this year. I'm exercising on a regular basis and running my first 5K with some friends this Sunday. I just bought my first pair of running shorts in Texas colors. No, they aren't the kind that look like undies. I'm also working on my two pack and it's looking good. I finally realized that if I want to look good I have to work at it. Talk is cheap. Weight isn't going to come off you unless you work at it. I cut my bangs this weekend and they look cute. A friend of mine saw me at the RBar and didn't even recognize me. He said between the bangs and new glasses I looked so young. Don't know if he was working it or being honest but it was nice to hear. Sometimes you need to hear some compliments from cute guys. Hanging out with cool positive people with their sh*t together. Planning a trip to Spain this summer with my friend. I think I'll still go even if they don't go. I think it would be wonderful to travel alone. I also want to go to Miami for a weekend in the next couple of weeks maybe after Mardi Gras. Also might be going to SXSW if I can get some free passes from Mike.

Anyway, if I haven't been in touch I was just kind of dealing with the same ole crap but it's dunzo so I should be my normal happy self now. Yes, sometimes letting go is much easier than fighting an uphill battle. Life's too short to be unhappy.

MLK Day

In honor of this day let's hope everyone makes an effort to be a nice person today.

Almost forgot

I've been needing new glasses since my prescription has changed. I went to see my doctor because I thought I needed bifocals because I was having a hard time using my current glasses. He was like no you just need a different prescription since you're becoming far sided and less near sided. I guess it's a good thing. Wish he'd say something about my astigmatism. I decided to go with something different than my current pair of glasses that I've had forever. I went with the nerdy librarian look and I think it's going to work. My friend Isabel helped me choose them and we saw some cool seventies inspired sunglasses that were $500.00. They were so fabulous we were tempted to buy them together and time share them. They would look so awesome with a caftan and a big floppy hat. Anyway I'm not buying any new sunglasses for another couple of months. I'm punishing myself for losing the Oliver Peoples sunglasses I lost back in November. I'm rocking my old ass Prada from like three years ago. The lenses are all scratched up but they still work. Here's the glasses I'm picking up today. They are Paul Smith glasses. I also like a pair of Oliver Peoples acrylic glasses which would look good with colored lenses. I'll take a picture with them on me and post later. I had really strong iced coffee this morning hence the posts. I'm all over the place.

So Sorry

I just want to let my brother's family know that I am so sorry about their dog passing away. He was a cutie and he'll be missed. So sorry Taylor, Sandra, Hector and Jorge. XOXO

Friday Updates

Ok, I haven't updated in a while because I've been busy and distracted. Let's see what's been going on. I'll list them for you.

1. House-
I decorated for Mardi Gras this past week. Yes, it's right around the corner and I love me some Mardi Gras. I finally took down the Christmas decorations outside. No, I haven't taken down my Christmas tree. I'll have to post a picture of it. It still looks good. It's a work in process because I'm trying to figure out how to store the decorations in a manner in which they don't break yet are easy to unpack. I wish we had an Container Store it would so make me happy because I would be so much more organized. Have to head to Target this weekend to see what they have.

I also decided to drop the asking price on my Green Street house by another 10K. I should have priced it this way from the beginning but I was being greedy and you know what happens when you do that. I'm burying a St. Joseph statue in the yard this weekend. Everything helps right?

2. Clothes
Since I'm not really spending any money this year on clothes. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself I haven't really been shopping. I did get a $100.00 gift card from Dillard's from Julio so did some shopping. I bought some new Levi's jeans in a size 4 (I'm excited about this since I've been working to get to this size for a while) and some long brown leather gloves. I wanted black ones but I've already got short black ones so what would be the point. I also bought gloves because it's something you'll always have and use. Most of my jeans are fitting loose around the booty which is never good. Makes me look like I took a poop. Thank God, I have jeans in every size. I fluctuate in weight obvs. I also went to Forever 21 the other day because I was in the mood for some plaid and didn't want to spend too much money. I picked up a shirt and a dress. The dress is technically a black and red shirt that fits me like a dress. I wore it last night to this comedy show one of my clients was taping with some black tights and black flats. I looked really cute if I say so myself and got lots of compliments. It's kinda short but with the flats and tights I don't look like a tart. ;) The shirt is black/white/red plaid and is actually really cute. I'm loving my brown riding boots I picked up at Buffalo Exchange courtesy of Sandra. Isabel also got me a hot pink scarf from American Apparel that I've been rocking. It's a great color for me. I'm trying to wear all my winter jackets this winter otherwise they are going to find a new home.

3. Work
Actually the new year is starting out really good. Sales are up. I'm going to a conference with my boss and our CFO in Dallas in February. I'm kind of excited because I was the only one asked to go. Maybe they are going to make me VP of Marketing. Inside joke since our company is so small that I could be VP of whatever.

4. Health
I've been exercising but slacking a bit I will admit. I have had a busy week, however, I am trying to train for a 5K run in early February. I'm not the best runner but nothing gets me going better than a challenge. I'm maintaining my weight.

5. Relationships
Things are looking good.

I'll post more if I can think of other stuff and I'm not too busy.

Dog

I really want a puppy. They are so cute and cuddly when they are babies. I say I want a puppy but what I really want is a small cute little dog that's been housebroken. There is nothing worse than trying to teach a puppy not to pee on your floor. I've been down that road and it's no fun. Anyway I was looking for something on the internet and came up with this picture of this puppy. Made me want one really really bad. I know I shouldn't but it's some kind of cute. Maybe a visit to our local animal shelter will make me feel better.

Swamp Tour

One of the things I've always wanted to do and have never done since I've lived in New Orleans for the last twelve years is a swamp tour. Hector, Sandra, Taylor, George and I went on one on the 2nd in Jean Lafitte. It was great. It's like 1/2 hour drive from my house and it lasted about 1 1/2 hour long on one of the canals. It was very informative and fun. We got to hold the baby alligator the captain had on the boat. We got to see turtles, egrets, armadillos and alligators. Saw some buzzards too. It was a perfect day because the sun was out but it wasn't terrible hot. Here's some pictures. I took the little alligator and made me some nice boots. Just joking. I've never understood the mystique behind alligator leather. I do however like me some alligator and shrimp cheesecake from Jacquemos. Yummy!
