Fashion Show

So last night Michael put together a fashion show for Shoefty Garb at a local bar/club so I headed over after working out. He told me it was going to start at 8:30pm so I was in a total panic trying to get there on time. Anyway, the fashion show didn't start til 9:30pm. It was really good actually b/c they showed items that I was not interested in before but I might be now. The best part of the show was this guy who was dressed as a woman. He looked like a female office worker. Anyway let me describe him. He has a Dorothy Hamill haircut and he was wearing a rhinestone pendent, purse and women's heels. Supposedly he wears a Size 9 1/2 and buys his shoes at Steve Madden. It was extremely funny b/c he totally was rocking the girl look. Here's a picture of him. Yes that's a man. Afterwards we went to grab a bite at this place called Slice. It's a nicer pizza place with salads and awesome pizza by the slice. Yummy. Had to get home early b/c Mike is coming to town this wknd. Have to clean up the ole bachelerette pad.

New York Trip

Ok, so I haven't posted in a week. Left for New York on Thursday and of course my flights were delayed. Note to self only take non stop flights into NYC. Nicky and I stayed up late enjoying a bottle of wine and catching up with each other. I really miss her and wish I could see her more often. Taylor and Sandra met up with me on Friday and we covered lots of ground. We headed down to the WTC area to hit Century 21 which didn't turn out to well. I got lost after we got off the subway and it took me a bit to find Century 21. I think we ended up walking in circles. Should have bought a map not the subway map. Century 21 is a gigantic store kind of like Marshalls/TJMAXX but with lots more designer stuff. I thought it wouldn't be packed but I was wrong. It was very overwhelming so we left and headed back downtown to meet up with Nicky. Anyway, we had dinner at Milam, my favorite Bangladeshi/Indian restaurant, where the Maitre d'(Baboo)tried to pick me up. He even gave me his cell number. It's pretty funny b/c he's like 4' 10" max. He had some good laughs about it. The next day was more shopping and Brazilian food for dinner where we all had too many capirinhas. Nicky was leaving for France on Sunday so we tied one on. I had a nasty hangover the next day and had to recover walking down 5th Avenue. We ended up resting our dogs at Central Park where Sandra saw Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson biking in the park. On Sunday we had sushi and ended going up to the Rockfeller Center observation tower after dinner. That was lots of fun and than we met up with my friend Doug and his new girlfriend. All in all we didn't do a lot of sight seeing but we did hit all the important stores. H&M, Benetton, Saks(the one on 5th Ave), Loehmanns and lots of others. Picked up some cute maxi dresses that I will be working this summer. On Monday we headed to Chinatown on the subway but somehow I got lost and ended up going downtown both times we got on the subway. We finally got off and jumped into a cab. We had Chinese food for lunch and walked through Chinatown for a bit but we had to head back to the hotel to check out and head to the airport. By the end of the trip our feet were really hurting. I of course didn't pack comfy shoes. Have to remember to do that next time. It was fun and can't wait to do it with Helena and Chris now that I know my way around the subway. Here's a couple of pictures of the trip. Don't I look good for having a hangover (the pic of me and Taylor). Also I'm really looking for some black gladiator sandals. Saw some in NY but not ones I really want. I will have to search the internet for a pair.

Hornets Lose

So Cliff, my boss, and I went to the game last night and we proceeded to get smashed. Yes, we must have at least six Grey Goose and tonics and since he took me I ended up paying for most of the drinking and food. I could barely look up as we got so close at the end. I was going to cry but I didn't. Oh well, it'll only make us a much better team next year. CP3 still rocks. He's amazing and deserved that MVP award not Kobe. I can't decide who I want to lose more the Spurs or the Lakers. All I can say is Boston is going to win it all either way. BTW, the whole season that I've been going to the games I've been entering through the general admission gates and Cliff showed me the VIP entrance. You can walk right onto the floor of the area right behind the Hornets bench. Can you believe that? I could have reached out and touched Chandler. He is getting different seats next year on the opposite side of where they are now. It'll be good b/c the seats he has are good but people tend to stand in front of us.

Hornets Rule!

Guess who is going to the game tonight. That's right I am. My boss and his friend were going to go but his friend has a bad back so I'm stepping in and taking one for the team. HAHA! I'm so psyched about the game. It's going to be out of control. Can't wait. The Hornets are going to punish the Spurs. Horry and Bowen are going to get some payback. Let's hope Duncan and Parker aren't trying to win an Oscar for dramatic acting. PLAY SOME BALL!!!!

Weekend Update

So Michael, my amigo the fashionista, and I went to Iris this Friday. It's one of the newest hottest restaurants in the city. It's in a small house right around the corner from my house and it was delicious. Our waiter was kinda bland but it was ok b/c Michael knew one of the other waiters who came over a couple of times and chatted us up. Check out the menu. http://www.irisneworleans.com/ We had the ravioli and marlin as appetizers and it was sooo good. I had monkfish and Michael had the pouisson. BTW, I was feeling adventurous and I ordered an Kaffer Cayenne Limeade cocktail. It was so bad I had to send it back. I really tried to drink it but it didn't taste good at all. It was sour and too hot for me. Anyway, it was a nice dinner since I won't be seeing him for a couple of weeks b/c of our schedule. Saturday was kind of laid back with me running some errands. I picked up two pieces from Rogan at Target. Cute stuff I'm telling you. I love to buy at least one piece from Target's designer line every time they have a new one. Sunday was fun b/c I went over to Isabel's house for tea and cookies and we hung out. It was great b/c I don't get to spend alot of time with her. I ended up going to Target with her and had dinner with her parents and her family. It was great. On another note, she lives in Gentilly Terrace and I wanted to buy a house there before the storm and I couldn't really find what I wanted. Well, someone renovated a house across the street from her and I've got my eye on it. I'm going to put my house on the market so I can move to that neighborhood. I love my house but I'm tired of living in the hood. It sucks. Gentilly Terrace is a quiet mixed neighborhood. If I buy that house my neighbor would be a policeman and his wife. How great would that be? I'll post pics of it later.

Hornets Win

Last night after De Todo Un Poco (the Spanish language TV show I help produce) I headed over to meet Joaquin. Yes, I still talk to him. He is one of my closest friends. Anyway, I was able to catch the second half of the game and the Hornets came on strong in the third qtr. The Spurs were total babies. I especially like Tony Parker and his dramatic acting skills every time he got fouled. Anyway, we kicked some ass and I foresee an ass wiping in San Antonio. Duncan and his bunch are looking tired and ragged. Hornets are young and play like a team. We just need David West to have a good game and it's over for the Spurs. The bar where I met up with Joaquin was packed with Hornets fans and this being New Orleans and all they were trashed. Anyway it was fun to watch it with Hornet fans even drunk ones. We are talking about going to go watch the game on Thursday at a sports bar where we can get wings and beer. I love me some wings! I'm hoping I can score some tickets for the last game if there is one. I hope not but I'll take the tickets anyway.

Weekend Update

Ok, everyone I'm back from California. I got there at 8:30pm Pacific time on Friday night and ended up meeting Robin in Santa Monica. Unfortunately I didn't last very long because there is a two hour difference and flying always takes a lot out of me. I got to try my new noise cancelling headsets that Mike got me and they were awesome. I usually don't get good sleep when I fly but those puppies worked like a charm and I got to take a long nap on my flight to LA. Had a great time hanging out in Anaheim and the surrounding area. Since LA is so spread out I only got to visit with Robin on Monday for lunch. We met up at this really good Cuban restaurant somewhere close to Beverly Hills I believe. On Monday before I left we went to the Sony Picture lot and I saw Ewan McGregor (total hottie in person) and Peter Berg (he looks busted). I got to see the Wheel of Fortune set which was pretty cool but seeing Ewan McGregor was the best. The flights I got were direct so it wasn't a bad weekend trip at all. Basically I spent it hanging out doing nothing major which is always great. I'll post pictures later. Mike has the new Sony Alpha camera and it takes amazing pictures so he's supposed to send me the pictures he took.

Weekend

Guys I'm off to Cali for the weekend. I'll take lots of pics and post them for you next week. Meeting up with Robin tonight in Santa Monica for dinner and drinks.

Hornets lost last night but I don't think they'll lose again. Spurs suck!

Lo Barato Sale Caro

So in January 2006 I decided to put central ac/heat into my house. My house is old and it didn't have a system or the ductwork so I had to put a whole new system in. I asked around and a friend recommended his buddy. I got two other bids from reputable companies but I decided to give this guy a chance because he was Latino and cheaper. I've had nothing but problems with my system and he always had an excuse. Two weeks ago I decided to call a large AC company to come look at my system. Turns out my system is leaking freon b/c he didn't weld the pipes correctly. Cost to put freon in my system $200.00. It's going to cost me an additional $500.00 for them to put dye in the pipes and fix the leaks. Also I noticed last night that the AC fan wasn't turning on. Turns out the fuse in the unit in my attic had blown. The guy was up there putting the dye in today so he went ahead and fixed it. Cost $113.00. Oh and I forgot to mention that he put a 2.5 ton unit in when I needed a 3 ton unit. Of course that's thousands of dollars for a new unit. I totally got screwed by trying to give business to one of my brothers. This isn't the first time this has happened to me. My last car repairman and contractor screwed me over too. What's up with that? From now on any work done on my house is going to be done with the person with the most references I don't care if I'm related to you.

Pictures of me

Mark took these of me after I forced him to take them. I know the first one l'm trying to hard. Don't you just love my makeup. It's all about Smashbox primer. I'm not wearing an ounce of foundation. I start with Primer and finish with a light dusting of sheer powder. I guess it also helps that I got a facial about a week ago. BTW, I decided to dye my gray hairs and I totally made them coppery. It's kind of washed out but don't use that Nutresse stuff stick with the Clairol stuff. Love the color of the shirt. It totally works for my skin tone.

Hornets Win!

So I got two free tickets to the Hornets vs. Spurs game last night. The tickets are my boss and his friends and they weren't going so I stepped in to go. Of course I had to go get me a teal shirt since I wore my yellow shirt last time. I got this cute one shoulder shirt from Express. I normally don't step into that store but I couldn't find a cute top anywhere else. Actually I really like it b/c it's got a built in bra and had a little bit of sequins on it. These seats are pretty good since they are on the 21st row behind the Hornets bench. Great people watching. Danny Glover, Isiah Washington, Forest Whittaker (love him), Glen Dorsey(#1 Chief draft pick), Duece McAlister (saw him last time) and some other douche who plays with the Rams. He was wearing his pants really low and you could see his underwear. Not attractive. His girlfriend was extremely attractive and my friend Mark who went with me made me take a picture of her ass. Ok, I have to admit she had a nice ass. BTW, we sat behind a guy I like to call Fat Elvis. He totally had the coke bloat thing going on. Check him out. He's not really fat just his face. Anyway, the game was fabulous and the Hornets won. Daniel you should answer my calls when I call to get my props. :) Here are couple of pictures. Also check out my new pic on the page.

JazzFest 2008

Ok, so I had free tickets to JazzFest on Sunday. Randy and I went for about a hour and half. It's been raining and the festival is at the fairgrounds so you know what it smelled like. I think it smelled like a pigpen but I guess it's horse crap that I was smelling. Anyway it was hot and sunny and the smell was very strong. I did see Paul Moooney the comedian but didn't have the courage to ask him for an autograph. Randy ran into a couple of his lady friends. Don't think he wanted to but oh well that's his problem. Lots and lots of people on the last day. Hopefully next year won't be so rainy. Still think Friday of the first weekend was the best day to have gone to the fest and I got to go that day. Yahoo!

This week

Nothing exciting happened this week just work and working out. My butt is looking fabulous even with all the bad eating last weekend. Went to have sushi and drinks with my friend Randy last night (Friday). We ended up going to Frenchmen Street to do some people watching. Lots of people out b/c of JazzFest. Might go out there 2nite depending on how I feel. I ended up running errands today and dropped by Saks this afternoon to pick up some new Bobbi Brown makeup. She finally decided to do palettes which means I don't have to carry around my three eyeshadows just one palette with the three eyeshadows inside. I also picked up some new sunglasses. Oliver Peoples. Ok, it's been a while since I got my Prada sunglasses. Over two and half years so I think deserved them. Was going to get some white Joe's Jeans but they didn't have my size. I guess I can order them but you know the whole thing about wanting instant gratification. That's me you see.

Updates

Ok, since I haven't updated my blog I'll let you know what's been going on my with my life.

I had Isabel over to my house to help me get organized and clean up before my friend came to visit. It's been a long time coming. I moved my Xmas and holiday decorations up to the attic to make room in the closet for other stuff. I still haven't been able to put together my craft desk but I'm still working on it.

So my friend and I ended up going to Mimi's Tapas Bar when he got in. Mimi's is a place my ex-boyfriend Joaquin opened a while ago. I hadn't been there lately since he moved to Chicago but I love it b/c it serves food til 2:00am. Since both of us hadn't eaten we had some tasty tapas and drinks. Unfortunately I had to go to work the next day and of course I was so tired and had a bit of a hangover. Oh well. On Thursday Shoefty had a trunk show for Arthur Medonica (sp). I'm not sure if that's the correct spelling. I wasn't that impressed with his clothes. He had one or two pieces that I really liked. Of course while there I looked around the shop and saw an orange Phillip Lim dress that I've got my eye on. I might have to go back and pick it up. We ended up going to Delachaise later for a late dinner and drinks. Delachaise is a bar that serves really innovative food and drinks late into the night. Really good food. As we were sitting there I looked next to me and Terence Blanchard was standing next to me. If you don't know who he is just watch any of Spike Lee's movies. He does all the soundtracks for his movies. I tried to play it cool and didn't ask for a picture but other people recognized him and he was really nice to them. Oh well. On Friday, we we ended up going to JazzFest after I got off work. I wanted to see Alison Kraus and Robert Plant. Since we got there so late we really couldn't see or hear them but we did see Ozomatli. It was a beautiful day with a little bit of sprinkling but nothing major. It's been raining almost every other day of JazzFest since than. We ended up going to Jacque-mos later that evening and I of course had the rabbit. Yummy! Saturday was just a relaxing day. We went to Noah's (Isabel's son) birthday party. After that we had lunch in the quarter and than we walked around but had to rush back to the B&B we were staying at b/c of the rain. We had wine and cheese there in the evening. We ended up meeting a bunch of people staying there and they were very cool. We ended up going to see Ozomatli at the Howling Wolf. It was a great weekend. Lots of New Orleans adventures. Here's me with my wonky eye wearing my Phillip Lim dress. I got lots of compliments. Here's a pic of Ozomatli too.
