Congratulations to Michael M!
So my friend Michael is leaving New Orleans to move to New York City. He just got a wonderful new job at Cacharal and I'm so happy for him. Unfortunately, he'll be moving really soon and I'm going to be bummed. We haven't known each other that long but in the short time that we've known each other it's been a blast with lots of good times. He's a great guy and I wish him all the best. He totally deserves it. On a positive note, it's one more person to visit in NYC.
New Shoe-New Movie Review
Ok, guys remember I told you about the brown sandal heel I was thinking about getting at Banana Republic. This post has two stories in one so be patient. Yesterday me and Mark went to the movies at Canal Place(mainly shows art house movies and it's small). We were going to watch The Fall. Normally I'm not a big fan of this theater b/c last time Mike & I went to the movies there we sweated up a storm but Mark had seen every movie at the big stadium seating theater. We get there and they have a sign saying that the AC is out in the theater showing The Fall. We decide to see the Helen Hunt movie Then She Found Me. It was pretty good. I'm not a big fan of Helen Hunt but she was good and Bette Midler was hilarious. I'd recommend it to watch and not even as a rental. Anyway, getting back to the shoes. They have a Banana Republic Woman's Store(they've got a separate Men's store in that mall too). I had called them earlier in the week to ask if they had either Vaughn or Faustine in a size 7 and they said no. The Faustine is the one I have a picture below. I'm always suspect of people who answer the phone because they are usually hurried and don't look closely. Since we were at Canal Place I decided to drop by the store do see what they had. They didn't have the Size 7 in the Faustine but they did have the Size 7 in the Vaughn. I tried them on and they made my legs really good. They definitely are a better shoe for me since I can wear them to work and out to play. Yes, I bought them and they had an additional 20% off. :)

Weekend Fun

So this Saturday night I met up with Michael and Betsy for dinner and drinks. It was supposed to just be some wine and hanging out at Betsy's but we decided to go out to dinner. We went to La Crepe Nanou which is this lil French restaurant Uptown. It was delicious. I had the veal which was divine. We had champagne and red wine before we got to dinner and more champagne with our dinner. After dinner we headed off to Frenchmen Street for cocktails before we headed off to Mimi's for dancing. We hit the R-Bar, dba, Yukis and Friendlys bar before we even made it to Mimi's. We had at least two cocktails at each place before we ended up at Mimis. Needless to say I was tore up. Champagne does a number on me. Lucky for me I'd left my car at Betsy's house so I took a cab home. Funny thing is I left once in the cab and decided I wasn't ready to leave so I came back. I ended up leaving again after that but I was definitely out of control and spent way too much money. I hadn't been out in a while so I don't feel to bad about it. It was fun b/c we ended up dancing at Yukis and Mimis. Hadn't done that in a while. I did have a nasty hangover the next day and I had to go to a get together at Sue's house. Took me a while to get there but a dip in the pool definitely helped. Hung out with my girl Beth and Isabel and their family. It was nice since I hadn't seen Beth in forever. Here's a couple pics of the fun.
New Shoes
Ok, I didn't buy them recently. I bought these Yves Saint Laurant shoes at a Saks outlet store a couple years back and never wore them. They were originally a pink color but I never wore them because I thought they looked to bridesmaidy. I decided to punch them up by dyeing them an electric blue color. Jimmy, my cobbler, is the best and he did an outstanding job on these. I paid $43.00 for them and the cost of dyeing them. They are too damn cute. Can't wait to wear them. BTW, Michael suggested I dye them this color so props to him for the idea.

New Sandals
I know I'm not supposed to buy anything but I kind of did. I had these money gift cards and they had like $80.00 on them so I went ahead and bought some gladiator sandals from Zappos. Technically I didn't spend any money depending on how you look at it. They are really cute. I kept looking for some like the Guiseppe Zanotti ones that are $650.00 but no luck. What I wanted was black ones with gold buckles and a zipper in the back. These aren't black leather they are black patent leather but they have all the features I like including the zipper. Check them out. They are from Penny loves Kenny. Hadn't heard of them until I was flipping through either Marie Claire or Lucky and ran across a pair of purple shoes that are so circa 1988. Yes, they are made in China but they weren't very expensive and I couldn't buy the Zanotti sandals I wanted now that I'm buying a new house and don't know how long I can wear them before they are played out. BTW, last night I was having drinks with my friend Randy and we got on the subject of ugly shoes. He said he absolutely hates gladiator sandals and thinks they are so ugly. He said that girls love them and they compliment each other on them but guys secretly think they are horrible. Good tidbit of information but since I'm wearing them for comfort and my own personal style I'm going to ignore his comments.

I WANT THESE!
So I have been jonesing for these shoes from Banana Republic for weeks. I had a nice pair of brown heels from Aldo that were great summer shoes. Unfortunately like most cheap shoes they didn't last long. They broke and my cobbler couldn't fix them. It's really weird because the sole broke. After that I've never stepped into Aldos because most of their shoes are made in China if not all of them. Chinese shoes=Cheap shoes. Anyway I like Banana Republic shoes because they are either made in Italy or Brazil and they are quality shoes. I remember when most shoes were made in Brazil and they lasted a while. Nowadays most shoes are made in China and they are cheaply made. It's cool that they are cheaply made but you can't be asking me to spend $80.00 on them. Steve Madden is a prime example of that. Why the hell would I spend that kind of money on cheap shoes? No offense to anyone it's just an opinion. Anyway here's the shoe I have in mind to purchase. They are on sale on the website but they are out of my size which is a good thing. It makes me feel better since I'm on a budget. I have to go return some flip flops I bought at the BR and hopefully they won't have these heels in my size because I won't be able to control myself. I also like this other pair of strappy brown heels but I don't see them on the website anymore. Check these out.

New House
Here's the picture of my possibly new house. Had inspections done yesterday and it has a couple of issues. Nothing major and all repairable. We'll see if he'll make them. I'll keep my fingers crossed. I also met with my loan guy today and must have signed a million pages. It's crazy but all the paperwork had spaces for two people to sign. Kind of pisses me off. They should have paperwork for single people buying homes. I feel like they are pointing out to me that I don't have a partner to buy a house. Oh well, just a small vent. I close on the 16th. Wish me lots of luck.

New Painting
So my friend Mark has been painting lately and he has started a website featuring some of his paintings. I decided to pick up on of them. Check it out. I also am trying to get him to paint Gato but he wants to charge me too much or at least I can't spend that kind of money right now. This no spending money thing is really getting on my nerve. Anyway here's his website for the other paintings and a picture of what I bought. http://markrosenbohm.blogspot.com/ It's cute. If you're interested in picking up something for that special someone check out his site. No, I'm not getting a kickback although I do get a discount b/c I'm special like that. Don't be hatin.
Happy Pic of the Day
I was feeling kind of down but I found this pic of Roman and me from our visit to my parents and it made me feel happy. Guess who the dork is in the background. Yes, I know I don't look my best but doesn't my lil man look so adorable. I think we kind of look alike. I would post more pictures of my other cute niece and nephew but my sis and brother in law don't want me to post any on the web. Oh well, here's lil Roman.
Weekend Update
Sorry haven't updated my blog but I've been preoccupied with work and stuff. Mike came in this past weekend. We didn't do much because he was recovering from his cold/allergies. We did end up going to the festivals in the quarter. They had a Seafood/Zydeco/Creole Tomato Festivals going on. We had some really good food and picked up local fresh shrimp and creole tomato for dinner. The shrimp was spectacular. It was lots of fun but we didn't stay to long because of parking and the heat. Here's a picture of him with two guys dressed up as tomatoes. They look like they're thinking why is this guy taking a picture with us. Anyway, he left yesterday and we aren't going to see each other for like five weeks. I'm bummed but I guess I'll focus on getting my house ready to sell and working out. I can't fall back to my old ways of retail therapy to make me feel better since I have to save money or at least not spend any money. I have my house inspections today so I'll take some pics and post for you guys tonight.

Lots to talk about
I know I haven't posted in the last couple of weeks but I've been really busy. I've decided to buy a house and my offer has been accepted so I'm moving forward with my financing and inspections. I went home for my nephew's graduation this past weekend which was great but very tiring. I had to wake up early b/c Roman, my nephew, and his cousins Amanda and Felix like to get up really early. Got to spend time with my siblings and their kids which is always nice even if it's just for short periods of time. Time seems to fly by when I'm home. I'll post pictures after I get them from Mike and the familia. If you'd like to see my possible future house let me know and I'll send you a link. I'm weary about posting any new info on my blog until some things blow over. If you don't know what I'm talking about than you haven't been talking to me lately.
This weekend is the Creole Tomato Festival in the Qtr so I'm looking forward to that. Our tomatoes are locally grown and they don't have a salmonella problem. I've cutting back on my spending so you won't see a lot of shopping posts anymore unless I go to H&M and Forever21. Oh BTW, I rocked my Maxi dress from H&M on Sunday. My dad tried to give me attitude about the cleavage but I still wore it. My mom came to the rescue with "Ramon let her enjoy her youth" but in Spanish. I don't know if it was a dig or what but my dad layed off me. She also mentioned that I liked to walk around naked. That's mainly b/c she thinks my clothes are too short and see through. Anyway it's hot here and I don't see myself spending too much time outside.

Fashion Show

So last night Michael put together a fashion show for Shoefty Garb at a local bar/club so I headed over after working out. He told me it was going to start at 8:30pm so I was in a total panic trying to get there on time. Anyway, the fashion show didn't start til 9:30pm. It was really good actually b/c they showed items that I was not interested in before but I might be now. The best part of the show was this guy who was dressed as a woman. He looked like a female office worker. Anyway let me describe him. He has a Dorothy Hamill haircut and he was wearing a rhinestone pendent, purse and women's heels. Supposedly he wears a Size 9 1/2 and buys his shoes at Steve Madden. It was extremely funny b/c he totally was rocking the girl look. Here's a picture of him. Yes that's a man. Afterwards we went to grab a bite at this place called Slice. It's a nicer pizza place with salads and awesome pizza by the slice. Yummy. Had to get home early b/c Mike is coming to town this wknd. Have to clean up the ole bachelerette pad.

New York Trip

Ok, so I haven't posted in a week. Left for New York on Thursday and of course my flights were delayed. Note to self only take non stop flights into NYC. Nicky and I stayed up late enjoying a bottle of wine and catching up with each other. I really miss her and wish I could see her more often. Taylor and Sandra met up with me on Friday and we covered lots of ground. We headed down to the WTC area to hit Century 21 which didn't turn out to well. I got lost after we got off the subway and it took me a bit to find Century 21. I think we ended up walking in circles. Should have bought a map not the subway map. Century 21 is a gigantic store kind of like Marshalls/TJMAXX but with lots more designer stuff. I thought it wouldn't be packed but I was wrong. It was very overwhelming so we left and headed back downtown to meet up with Nicky. Anyway, we had dinner at Milam, my favorite Bangladeshi/Indian restaurant, where the Maitre d'(Baboo)tried to pick me up. He even gave me his cell number. It's pretty funny b/c he's like 4' 10" max. He had some good laughs about it. The next day was more shopping and Brazilian food for dinner where we all had too many capirinhas. Nicky was leaving for France on Sunday so we tied one on. I had a nasty hangover the next day and had to recover walking down 5th Avenue. We ended up resting our dogs at Central Park where Sandra saw Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson biking in the park. On Sunday we had sushi and ended going up to the Rockfeller Center observation tower after dinner. That was lots of fun and than we met up with my friend Doug and his new girlfriend. All in all we didn't do a lot of sight seeing but we did hit all the important stores. H&M, Benetton, Saks(the one on 5th Ave), Loehmanns and lots of others. Picked up some cute maxi dresses that I will be working this summer. On Monday we headed to Chinatown on the subway but somehow I got lost and ended up going downtown both times we got on the subway. We finally got off and jumped into a cab. We had Chinese food for lunch and walked through Chinatown for a bit but we had to head back to the hotel to check out and head to the airport. By the end of the trip our feet were really hurting. I of course didn't pack comfy shoes. Have to remember to do that next time. It was fun and can't wait to do it with Helena and Chris now that I know my way around the subway. Here's a couple of pictures of the trip. Don't I look good for having a hangover (the pic of me and Taylor). Also I'm really looking for some black gladiator sandals. Saw some in NY but not ones I really want. I will have to search the internet for a pair.

Hornets Lose
So Cliff, my boss, and I went to the game last night and we proceeded to get smashed. Yes, we must have at least six Grey Goose and tonics and since he took me I ended up paying for most of the drinking and food. I could barely look up as we got so close at the end. I was going to cry but I didn't. Oh well, it'll only make us a much better team next year. CP3 still rocks. He's amazing and deserved that MVP award not Kobe. I can't decide who I want to lose more the Spurs or the Lakers. All I can say is Boston is going to win it all either way. BTW, the whole season that I've been going to the games I've been entering through the general admission gates and Cliff showed me the VIP entrance. You can walk right onto the floor of the area right behind the Hornets bench. Can you believe that? I could have reached out and touched Chandler. He is getting different seats next year on the opposite side of where they are now. It'll be good b/c the seats he has are good but people tend to stand in front of us.

Hornets Rule!
Guess who is going to the game tonight. That's right I am. My boss and his friend were going to go but his friend has a bad back so I'm stepping in and taking one for the team. HAHA! I'm so psyched about the game. It's going to be out of control. Can't wait. The Hornets are going to punish the Spurs. Horry and Bowen are going to get some payback. Let's hope Duncan and Parker aren't trying to win an Oscar for dramatic acting. PLAY SOME BALL!!!!
